Why did Tone buy him, then? He must have seen something in him? Guess he realised we lacked pace at midnight deadline day And that our squad needed more numbers to cope with the Europa League campaign that season. Sign in haste, regret at leisure!

But just to add another thought, surely if Hughes wants to offload him why he he devalue Jerome's stock in such a way as to leave him behind? Is he that disruptive? ?? I'm not sure if by leaving Jerome behind is seriously going to devalue his stock unduly. It may be seen as a rap across the knuckles for something or a clear indication that he's up for grabs. I'm sure some club will have him.

To be honest, I would have kept Jerome over Palacios and Jamie Ness, but hey, not my choice.

He's not been treated at all well on the face it. You can only presume there is more to it than meets the eye.

He was injured and then loaned out, and hasn't done himself any harm this pre season. Palacios is past it though.

I think Jerome would be a £2M bargain for a Championship club, but the Prem seems to be a step too far for him. Would not be surprised to see him score 15 goals at that level in a season.

Fair enough, but can you see Ness ever playing for us? Been here two years and played more for the O's, and he hardly pulled up trees there.

For all the stick Jerome gets, it's worth noting that he has a much better strike rate for us in league games than either Walters or Crouch:
Jerome: 278 minutes per goal Crouch: 319 minutes per goal Walters:432 minutes per goal
I realize Walters has been deployed on the wing more than Jerome was. But Walters also had at least ten spot kicks to pad his goals count.

But Crouch and Walters have also played a hell of a lot more games.

I like Jerome and feel his exclusion from the squad is harsh. He doesn't get enough credit for some of the amazing performances he put in when he came off the bench during TP's last season.
Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

It was embarrassing for Jerome, playing tonight was a bit of an insult. Obviously he was miles ahead in terms of class, too easy for him. Hard to judge the young lads to much as Congleton were poor but they did play well. On Saturday against Newcastle,he didn't get a sniff.

He's a championship footballer with an attitude that stinks hence why Hughes won't give him the time of day.

Palace Fan here
Jerome did ok for us last year, on his day he looked unplayable but most of the time he looked like a bit of a donkey, to be fair to him though he did work well within our system.
Im not sure if palace will take him back, maybe on a free signing on moderate wages, cant see us paying money for him.

Stoke will expect a fee for him, just a low one.

He's a bit of a thug but Charlie Adam would do well for us I reckon, is he available? Wouldn't rule it out - but have no idea where he'd fit into a Pulis XI and can't see him going back for a second bite after his first try. Tone didn't really have any idea how to use him - although, to be fair, he is a tricky player to get the best out of and I don't think Hughes particularly fancies him and I can see him struggling to make our bench

Both players were used last season & yes Ireland is favourite at the moment but given Adams goals last season + his ability to pick out fast clever forwards (which we now have)I can see Adam playing albeit not as 1st choice. Adam might not want that of course.
