If there's ever been a player we DONT want at our club is thus guy. It's obvious that he's been messing us about all summer waiting for 'something better' to come along. Given the fact he wouldn't want to be here what sort of influence in the dressing room do you people think he'll be? Time to move on! No he hasn't. He thinks he can get a move to a bigger club with Champions League or the very least Europa League aspirations so he's holding fire. That's not being messed around it's just the reality of the situation....

Good eye. Don't think Everton would offer the one year buyout to a CL. Plus we're the better side. Side note: are you often at the oasis or just a name?

I hate the big club small club arguments but I would love to know how you come to the conclusion that your better than us pal, i've noticed this from alot of Stoke fans recently, finished above us once in the last millenia and all of a sudden your a bigger club, we finished above Utd 2 seasons ago but you never saw our fans suddenly get above our stations! You've lost 3 of your best players and hardly replaced them with quality and last season aside we have finished 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th the seasons prior and history and honours we are vastly superior so I wouldn't be getting too arrogant based on one shit season for us and one good season for yourselves (although I like what Hughes has done whilst manager of you lads) On Shaqiri don't think we will be after him tbh, think Martinez wants more of a deep laying playmaker.

You make some good points, efc. However, you glossed over a few important facts: 1) we beat Everton home and away last season, 2) we have a much better manager, 3) Lennon chose Everton over Stoke because he thought it would be easier to a get into the starting line-up, 4) there's still a month left in the transfer window and 5) there's nothing to suggest Everton won't be shit again next season!
Edit: One more thing on transfers: the only real loss is N'zonzi and there's still a month left to replace him. Bego was well below par last season and Butland represents the future. While we weren't able to keep Moses, he wasn't really ours to start with and we finished very strongly at the end of the season without him, beating your cross-town friends 6-1 (which I bet you enjoyed!). I believe Everton only managed two draws and one goal against the dippers last season.
PS: The Brit may not be the greatest stadium in the world but it is fairly new. I last went to Goodison Park 30 years and it was a dump then. I dread to think what it's like now.
PPS: My first wife is from Wallasey and a passionate Everton fan, so I'm quite enjoying this banter.
PPPS: looking forward to December 28th

Frankly I don't rank Everton. I respect the team, but when I see Everton on the schedule I feel optimistic. Based purely on our results vs. Everton, there is no doubt in my mind that today and this next season Stoke is the better club. What your club has done to stay up and compete is admirable and surely Stoke has taken lessons, but I just don't see Everton as a top side above Stoke and only results will change that. So if I was shaqiri and looked at the two squads I'd known I'd go. No arrogance, you just don't hold the weight your used to.

Mainly at black sheep or Haymaker game day (or at home). Mister tramps for arsenal matches because it's a Tottenham bar and the atmosphere is conducive. But fado is quality, just full of man utd.

In all fairness I think Everton have a manager who isn't the best. What did he do with Wigan? Spent a lot of money and flirted or was relegated on a regular basis Some managers just drop into jobs and in my honest opinion Martinez is one of these not the best but gets a decent job. I also think that Everton deserve a better manager than him. It's like us with TP ( love the bloke and what he did for the club btw) but we evolved or are in the process of into a relatively good footballing side to enable us to try and sign the next level of players Only time will tell but as a club you have to respect Everton and their fans and board. Anyway let's sign a world class winger and hopefully another midfield general and try and push on a little more hopefully Europe in a couple of seasons and then we are moving forwards again. Personally I think the concentrating on youth policy is refreshing and we will reap the rewards in a few years. (Maybe sooner Goarrrrnnnnnn Stoke

Crunch time will come when Martinez has to rebuild your back line , if you lose stones and Coleman . Jagielka and baines being the wrong side of 30 it can't be too far away . I like Everton though so good look this season

You are right. we do get ahead of ourselves from time to time. I think it is fair to say we see ourselves as a team on the up. We get our owner's vision for the club: the way he used Pulis to get us promoted and keep us there; the way he has employed Hughes to move us up through the gears; his sensible attitude backed with significant funds when necessary; his attitude toward the fans with things like ticket prices and away travel. And it is working, we are not here to be a flash in the pan, it is slow (at times) but steady progress, season on season all heading in the right direction. I cannot speak for anyone else on here, but if I had a second team it would be Everton, in spite of those days in my youth when it seemed like a next step for many Stoke players was moving to Everton (Bernard, Pejic, Bracewell, Heath). More recently I would say that it looks like Everton have been sliding. For years your owner would be quite frank about having to sell players to balance the books, after a while that has to have an impact. The loss of Moyes has had a delayed effect. Martinez is flaky when it comes to defence and after a storming first season you haven't done so well and I am not sure Martinez is all Dave Whelan sold him as. So I mean no disrespect. Everton are a bigger club than Stoke, they have the pedigree and we are the upstarts on the scene and we must come across as Bill Big Bollocks. However, i think it is a fair point that at the moment we are moving forwards and many of us see Everton in a stagnant state and looking like you could be going the other way. This season could be quite telling for Everton

I can't speak for ayem (or any other Stokies for that matter mate) but I've not seen many people claim we're a bigger club than Everton. To be honest, if they did, it probably makes much of their argument null and void; whilst I hate the 'small club/big club' arguments there is really not much supporting evidence by pretty much any criteria a supporter cares to go by - history, crowds, trophies, seasons in top flight, European footy etc. - that would put us above you. However, I think it is fair to say that playing-wise, our club stability, our manager and Chairman, our trajectory, and perhaps even our ambition, we are at the very least on a par with your club right now. Our respective propositions for players may well be similar too (in a purely objective fashion of course). There's no denying that as a name (or 'brand' to coin a favoured word in football atm) clubs such as Everton hold more sway than Stoke, but that is not necessarily the be-all-and-end-all. Villa are a 'bigger' club than Stoke, but a better club with better players? Surely Stoke are well ahead in those terms as things stand currently! Interesting you say you reckon Martinez is after a deep-lying midfielder; it seems like you boys are linked with every player under the sun at the minute! Is it just the one player you're after now, or do you expect a few more faces before the end of the window?

Staying away from Yarmo a little here, but I like Everton. Great fans home and away and even after a 4 nil drubbing we had a good day and night. I enjoyed Boxing Day much more though Anyway, Everton are a far bigger club than Stoke, far bigger. I think what others on here may have implied is the doubt over Martinez following last season and the all too often financial plight that Bill peddles. As it happens I think you'll have a good year and that your manager will come good.

Everton fans can hardly criticise another club for delusions of grandeur.
To be fair they have a good first 11, and Lukaku has the potential to play for a big club but their manager is awful and is only taking bottom half players there (Lukaku aside). They need to get rid as soon as possible, but I get the impression the chairman loves him.
