If he doesn't get any better offers and is happy to take a massive drop in wages I'd say it's in the bag.... what are we talking wages wise? £75k according to the report. We'd have to sell 3 of Jerome/Walters/Crouch/Adam to accomaodate that I would imagine....

Chances of this are probably slimmer than Ghandi's dick but it's certainly exciting being linked with such players.

Not sure where they have got £75,000 a week from, then again it is the Mail reporting it!
Other sources i have read seem to quote him on around £600,000 a year which is about £12,500 a week, surely we could offer him £45,000-£50,000 and he would be happy enough to accept those demands. Personally i think him wanting to see if a bigger club come in for him is a more plausible stumbling block rather than his wage demands.

Get rid of Jerome, Wilkinson, Shea, Shotton and Wp. Easy.
No transfer money spent?
If the big boys don't go for him, why not?

If we offer this guy the wages he wants wouldn't that trigger a "I deserve the same" from the other top players at the club?

If we offer this guy the wages he wants wouldn't that trigger a "I deserve the same" from the other top players at the club? As I've said on another thread I'm not sure that the £75k per week figure is accurate. He's on a lot less than that at the moment and I reckon that a good signing on fee plus a wage at the top of our wage structure would tempt him. As to the other players in the squad, he would be the most high profile forward at the club. OK, Bojan has potential (and will no doubt get an automatic wage rise if he realises that potential) but Yarmolenko is a world class player who has done the business for club and country and who is just entering his prime. No player at Stoke could honestly put a case forward that they are currently worth more.

If his wage demands as reported are correct then I think they are too steep. Plus Ukrainian / Russian players always a bit if a gamble as they don't seem to adapt too easily to the EPL

If we did sign him the pace we would have upfront would be unbelievable. I think we need players out before we would sign someone like him. At least enough to raise the transfer fee.

We certainly need to get players out. But I think it is much more a case of freeing up wages rather than raising the transfer fee. Even allowing for the inevitable signing on fees, we've spent remarkably little on transfers since Hughes took over and Coates has always said that the money is there if the right player becomes available. Wages are a different matter - we HAVE to keep the wage bill within limits to comply with the Premier League's Financial Fair Play rules which allow only a modest rise in wages year on year.

The newspapers reported that he had talks with chelsea weeks ago , but they couldnt promise him a regular startingx1 place. Might be a good move for him to come and prove himself at a club like ours then. At 24 he could see a 3 year contract out with us and get a big move.

Not another skilful pacy forward thinking player? Hughes is worse for them than Pulis was for centre halves

7, but the more it's highlighted the lower the chances if it was to happen would it be soon or deadline day? Late on, as clubs wants better bids, and will get them if his name is banded about in the press, and then we cannot compete

Could only see Yarmolenko happening on Deadline Day if it went through.
What a cracking deadline day deal that would be though!

Late on, as clubs wants better bids, and will get them if his name is banded about in the press, and then we cannot compete This is a genuine question. If a club want to generate interest in a player, couldn't they just email his availability to all the clubs who could possibly buy him? If not, why not? Seems a bit of a strange way to drum up interest, just waiting for the Daily Mail to get things going.
