It's not really the spurs route, Spurs spent a shit load on foreigners with no common language.
Lambert Lallana and Lovren all know each other's game and the PL. It's only Can and that other lad who will have to adjust.
Sturridge will relish being the main man

I've been massively unimpressed with this bloke TBH which just goes to show that, either I know nothing (probably true) or Liverpool are paying huge sums for very average players (I'm going with this one). Time will tell but I think he's worth a fraction of what they've paid for him.

Lallana is out for a few months isn't he? Can't see why they'd need a right back (earlier post) because even if we agree Johnson is crap, Flanagan is a right back and not a left back. Assuming Enrique comes back then they're covered. As for Lovren, he looks okay but £20 million? Interesting to see where Liverpool turn for a striker now the Remy deal is off.

I hear they're going to try and sign Jay Rodriguez. Basically the entire Southampton team will be playing for Liverpool soon Which means they'll still be shit

You've got take your hat off to S'ton, doing a great bit of business. Although I'm not sure whether they have any replacements...

Basically the entire Southampton team will be playing for Liverpool soon Which means they'll still be shit I've said on other threads that Southampton had a great season last season and clearly had some talented players and some young players with potential. I can't fault them and well done to them but I do think, on the strength of last season, there is a distorted view of just how good their players are. I think several are heavily over-rated......good, but not as good as their transfer fees are now indicating. In fact I think one or two are massively over-rated. They've sold well over half their team and a couple more will move before the end of August and I expect, maybe, one or two to shine this coming season. Time will tell but I think some have got a little carried away with Southampton's players.

Time will tell but I think some have got a little carried away with Southampton's players. I think most of their good players are overrated. Yes, they've produced some talent in the last few seasons but you have to wonder what Liverpool are playing at signing someone like Lallana for 26 million. With all due respect, he's had one very good season and one where he didn't perform at all. I'm not saying he's a bad player, he's evidently talented, but to spend that kind of money after one fantastic season really is unwise in my opinion. Lambert is a safer bet at just 6 million (although he is nothing more than a carthorse so dippers who are expecting a replacement for Suarez are going to be disappointed). I also think 20 million for Lovren is crazy, but Liverpool are defensively short anyway so he probably won't look out of place.

You've got take your hat off to S'ton, doing a great bit of business. Although I'm not sure whether they have any replacements... It reminds me of Coventry at the end of the 1982/83 season. They had some internal disputes that resulted in them selling off their entire defence. Each of the players taken as an individual looked decent enough but as the Team wasn't a top side it suggested that at least one must be a lemon. History shows that was true (Paul Dyson was a whole box of lemons!) Now, with 7 or 8 Southampton players having gone to (or being linked with) Champions League Teams, while each looks a decent enough player, there must be one or two who when removed from their current environment will turn out to be a relative lemon. Who will prove to be the "new" Paul Dyson?

None of these players that Liverpool are signing will propel them to the title, especially having lost the bitey one. Lambert will be steady rather than spectacular. Lovren is on a par with Agger and Skrtel and I don't even rate Lallana that highly. Good player but not title winning class.

So that's nearly £90M Southampton have received for five of their players?
They finished six points ahead of us last season and failed to beat us.
The world's gone mad.

Amazingly, we could yet experience the scenario where the only player left at St Mary's is Dani Osvaldo.

Saints 11-2 to go down.
Surely worth a small wager.

I doubled them to go down with Derby to come up. 11-2 will surely come in over the next week or so. Will be hard to get decent signings in with such a weakened squad and the chances of a relegation battle. This means they will finish top 6!!!!
