Heard on a radio programme today that insiders reckon the next t.v top flight football deal will end up being three times what the newest deal is.
And we think transfer fees & wages are ridiculous now, surely if this happens ticket prices have to be reduced throughout the league & stadiums expanded instead of further lining the players & Agents pockets & charging supporters silly amounts (in some cases) compared to what they pay in countries such as Germany.

Would be nice if we upgraded our ground with the extra cash if it is true

I guess there's always the danger that if too many top players move to/remain in Spain and Germany then global demand will be for those leagues rather than The PL.
With club revenues trebled that should bring them back here and keep the focus of attention on England.
Absolutely obscene numbers, mind...

What do you think the realistic capacity would be for the Brit of we continue to grow as a club.? 32k? 35k? 40k?

With that sort of money they could slash season ticket prices massively and then expand the ground.

If true that would mean an average TV income pre club of about £180 million per annum! Surely, in addition to cheaper tickets (Twenty's plenty would be good) they should donate some of the extra money to support the grass roots game and the Football League clubs?

Does this mean the subscription deals will go up? I think the answer will be yes! Just had a letter saying that my sky deal is increasing. I know this is nowt to do with the op, but I'm getting sick of it going up every year!

Anyone who thinks this will result in cheaper tickets is dreaming. Football is an utterly disgusting business in this country - if it can grab more money then it will, whether it comes from the pockets of fans or the bank accounts of Arab businessmen.

It would be brilliant is we as a club could set the standard. Most expensive ST say £200 and most expensive match day ticket £20 sounds fair.

The new deal will be 3x the old one?
Are you sure they were comparing eggs with eggs?
This strikes be as a load of old tosh if I'm honest.

Cant see it being true. People say football is too expensive for the masses, but for Sky to recoup that kind of money the prices genuinely would be unaffordable for many.

They definatley said it's about £5B now & it could rise to as much as £15B next time around, if this does happen you would think it's a big two fingers up to Championship clubs & a case of ' pull the lid up Jack & sod the rest'.

I read an article the other day that said bskyb are buying the German and Italian sky's and in doing so have the potential to quadruple their subscribers!! So it's plausible that the deal could triple

My guess is that it will go up but not by anything like 3x for an identical deal over an identical period. I don't claim any special knowledge, just someone with a feel for numbers, an awareness of media hyperbole and a sense of the way things typically go.

You can see what Murdoch is planning with more geographic expansion in Europe but also the planned takeover of Time Warner in the US. On the back of football popularity during the World Cup in the US Im sure good old Rupert can see the dollar signs if he is able to sell the Premier League to the huge american audience. Cue league games over the pond, 7 points for long range goals, cheerleaders and lots more hotdogs at games

Adding more seats increases the stadiums capacity. You don't say , i think we've pretty much hit our ceiling in terms of league place maybe 8th is poss, without the owners ploughing stupid money into buying players which isn't going to happen and as there isn't the demand to extend now I don't see how it's suddenly going to change later.

We have never averaged more than 35 thousand in any season ever so what makes you think we could get 45 thousand now? If it cost at Stoke what it costs in germany (approx £8 I believe) I reckon we could attract that currently, even more so when you are bringing players like Bojan to the club. I believe the average family man and his kids and even a lot of groups of lads are priced out of the game today its a low paid area but most people can afford £8.

We have not averaged above 35 thousand in our 151 year history even when we were challenging for the title or when we won the League Cup. Even when entrance prices were low and families were not priced out of the game we still never averaged over 35 thousand for a season. There is no evedence whatsoever to justify the club increasing capacity to 45 thousand.

No chance we would get 45000 other than very special games but if it was £10 I'm sure we would get significantly more than we do,as would all clubs. Won't happen though.
