Some rediculous prices being thrown at them. They've befallen the PL "Media blitz" from having a side that has chemistry and talent. Losing 7-8 players isn't easy on any manager and if they don't re-invest they seriously could go from mid-table to championship very fast. Baffling mass exit. Although, it could benefit us! Very interesting season ahead. Excited anyone?

It reminds of of football manager ... you'd think some players would show a bit of loyalty for at least 6months I don't think that's fair, the first couple after Shaw (who was always going for big money) maybe, but now its about protecting their careers. Anyone PL standard needs to get out now or they run the risk of being dragged down to the Championship and getting stuck there.

Im from Southampton and have watched them from time to time.
Seeing what is happening right now is horrendous. The Saints fans are fanatical about their team and the way the board have been so quiet is taking the piss.
Sad times.

Did I miss something last season? Given the fees the players are moving on for I can only conclude that they won the prem, the league cup, the fa cup, and the world cup! !

I guess with every player that leaves they need even more incentive to sell another one - they don't need the money and don't want to lose any more established players. The fact that clubs are still chucking £20m at mid table quality players just speaks volumes about the barmy state of the premier league.

I look at the prices for those players though Hancock and I can't help but think they'd almost be mad not to sell for those crazy inflated figures. They have to re-invest wisely but they're looking at a steady 100 mill, the signing of Tadic that they made is a good one and Gaston Ramirez may still come good, might be hard getting a bunch of strangers to gel but I don't think we have seen the end of Southampton!

I'd be upset if I was one of the 3 players not to be sold!

What is happening at Southampton is desperately sad for anybody concerned about the modern state of football.
Clubs like Southampton, Newcastle, Stoke etc are basically stuck. For us success is survival and pinching a decent position in the Premiership ( anything between 6th and 15th) but no more. If we have another good season, we will see either a bigger team coming in for our best players or our manager, and then just like Southampton we will have to roll up our sleeves and start again.
Any sign of success and enter the vultures. Not a reason to celebrate in my book.
As for the money, it won't go very far at this level.

Oh absolutely, when substantial amounts of money are offered and players/agents heads get turned also then it's understandable. It must be such a worry for the fans and indeed everyone associated (including remaining players) at Southampton to lose this many key players. The thought of us selling let's say Begovic, Shawcross, Huth, Nzonzi, Arnautovic, Pieters and Odemwingie in the closed season even for large amounts of money would fill me with dread.

I can't quite work out how Chambers played so much as I though Clyne was first choice right back! I must have completely missed it! Wanyama won't go anywhere as he cost them £10 million and the jury is still out as to whether he's worth that and Ward-Prowse didn't play every game did he? I heard Cork was off too.

Read somewhere LFC are sniffing on Rodriguez, after the Remy deal fell through and Inter Milan after Osvaldo. At this rate, their famed Academy better have some quality left or it's a relegation battle... It's looking extremely dire. Can't believe they didn't put up a proper fight to hold onto their best players, but I sense the board can't be arsed... The amount they are getting I'm not surprised they aren't fighting it, some ridiculous prices, they'll soon have enough to wipe their debt and have a decent amount to spend on a new team. Yes that's true, although being in the black with cash is pretty useless with 3 weeks to go to the start of the season. Who will want to play for Southampton now? It's a risk to sign for them, money or no money.

250/1 is now being offered for Koeman to start a game, won't be hard to guess the bookmaker offering it.

It's getting complicated, Kruger {one of the board} has done an interview saying Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are NOT for sale, and furthermore all the money made so far is at Koemans disposal. Seems Schneiderlin is titsed at his move now being blocked by the board!!!!!!!! It's an unfolding/unravelling tale.

It's a shame for Southampton - probably the one club in the Premiership that has got close to the German model of youth development and footballing education.
I hope they stay up this season, which would appear to their first major goal for this season.
