Yes, players, manager, system & squad balance is too good. Hughes will be looking up not down. we are a well organised club now from top to bottom.
every season there becomes at least one crisis club which isn't us. ~There will be easily 2 teams worse than us Burnley I think it's realistic to say will be one of those. that leaves one more team.

No as well it went last year we could have injuries to key players, a dressing room bust up or any number of things.
I want top half and an increase on last year's points tally but I want 40 points as soon as possible first.

I think in reality we won't go down, but I don't believe we're too good to go down. Any team can go down. A few early injuries and a bad run of form? Who knows...
Leeds anyone?

You could make a bit of a comparison with the 1989/90 season. We'd finished the previous season in mid-table and looked like a team that just needed a spark to become promotion contenders. We went out and spent £1m on four players at a time when £1m was a massive amount of money for us, and it really looked like it could be our year.
We started the season playing really well, but didn't get much luck and couldn't manage to finish games off. The winless streak went on until the 12th game when the West Brom charity act turned up. Unfortunately, by then, the players confidence was shot at, we then sold our most saleable asset, and ended up being relegated.
Logic tells me we've improved from last season, and don't have the disadvantage of having to go through the Pulis to Hughes transition. Everything's telling me we're looking at 7th or 8th, but there's always that nagging feeling...

Are you kidding me? Diouf, if he performs, will be a massive improvement on Crouch or Odemwingie with his sheer pace, height and movement combined. I agree that we haven't massively improved our squad as well. In theory we have but in practice Diouf and particularly Bojan are unknown quantities. Don't expect Bojan to set the prem a light, certainly not next season anyway. We should be 13th-9th but if we go in a poor run and can't get out of it then we'll be in a relegation scrap.

No team that's not a top 6 side is too good to go down, it's all to do with how the players fit into the manager style. Obviously the huge teams are to good to go down, as they have the money if doing poorly in January to throw millions to get the players to save them. If Hughes takes us in the direction he has started to implement last season with the improvement in personnel we have already purchased we will finish top 10 without a doubt in my mind
