I'd love to see this. Used to see Baldwin around all the time at Keele Gym - occasionally watched the football with him on the TV. What a legend. You'll get the chance before too long to watch it on BBC 2, foxy ( assuming you live in this country). I will post the date and PM you as soon as it has been announced, which might be tomorrow.

If you know Keele you will get more than your Keele than you could ever want. The chapel, The Clock House, the Students Union, the playing fields by the Sports Centre. A fair bit of Newcastle-Under-Lyme too. It's a great film, laugh out loud funny but deeply moving too.

That's going to be a trip down memory lane; I did my degree at Keele, and lived in the flats right next to the playing fields. Certainly going to give this a watch then!

Godfrey - I think the bit you think is the Clock House is actually the steps of Keele Hall ( pretending to be the House of Commons ?? )

We used to call it the clock tower or something when we were kids since it has a clock on the top!! I am sure they have screen you speaking with Neil at the bottom of the path which leads up to it which we used to skate board down!!

The Clock House is where the Vice-chancellor lives - at least in half of it, down a narrow drive through a sort of gorge behind the Library, but not used in the film. The "House of Commons" is Keele Hall. Keele service station and Whitmore church are pretending to be in Scotland. "Neil's flat" is near Halmer End and their family home is virtually next to where it really was just off Gallowstree Lane.

From Lou's column in the Sentinel today :- I was half tempted to ask for his autograph! Just to add that Lou isn't the only one. Julian, the Director, has a wonderful photo on his phone of kids in Halmer End ( or near there) where "Neil's flat" is in the film queueing to get the autograph of someone sitting in the Director's chair. Toby Jones ? - no. Gemma Jones ? - no. Tony Curran ? - no. Yes - you've guessed - the real Neil.

That was one of the places where we used to hang out (boys and girls from the Westlands) in the evenings and at weekends. Totally rural in those days with just the basement of a long demolished building to explore. Sledging in winter (we had proper winters in those days) not too far away on the hill below the woods at "Gortons Bank" which was near Seabridge. Roe Lane (we lived at No 4)) playing fields for kite flying and model aeroplanes and footy kick abouts when they were not being used for formal games. Happy days.

So as kids we used to call the Library building the 'Clock Tower' for obvious reasons and I accidentally slipped in to 'Clock House' mode through knowing the Clock House well since I was friends with the VC's kids, my mistake. Whitmore Church we spotted as Whitmore Church which if you do makes things a little confusing because you don't then understand why Neil is so far from home in the film when he is at the Church

Just back from watching it, it's incredible.
Why on earth it's not getting a feature release in cinemas is beyond me. Stokies you will be pleased.
Howling with laughter and contains plenty of raw emotion. But wholeheartedly uplifting
It's unusual and really well written. Toby Jones is incredible too!
Won't spoil any more but, really, it's brilliant!

I'm also just back from the showing. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. A credit to Nello it really is and the acting from not only Toby Jones but others is fantastic.

Think our paths must have crossed a few times Gods - I used to skateboard down that path as well. Unfortunately I was bloody awful at skateboarding so I spent about two years with ripped jeans and three-inch thick scabs on my knees.

Excellent comments from everyone so far - didn't get chance to go to the premiere as I was missed off the list, but never mind, I'm just very much now looking forward to seeing the finished film, as I'm in it, I am at least if they haven't cut the scenes with the Baldwins team.
Been involved in Neil's team all through my Keele days and beyond, it's an honour to say I was involved in this film about the great man - he's a legend and a shining example to us all on winning through!
