Thought he could have been a much better signing had he not been played as a central midfielder.

I'm not saying he was a good signing but when we eventually dropped him he was playing well.

In that second season he started quite well. Even scored a great goal against Bolton away in the game where Danny Collins gave away a last minute penalty. Think he scored against Sunderland too then was dropped by TP. I can only assume it was his attitude that caused it.

Cue the usual Kitson abuse from those who couldn't see it all for what it was
A player consistently played out of position and when he wasnt he was asked to play a lone roll up front with absolutely no support from midfield
A bloke who had the nerve to question his workplace manager and when he did he was labelled a bad apple ( i'd be sacked everyday )
Interestingly he had nothing but good things to say about Tony Pulis and Stoke City when he left and visa versa
Still it won't stop the usual bollocks about to get spewed on here so let it begin ......sigh

He has been a good player, but it just did no work out under Pulis. Good luck to him, he is clever enough to earn a good living elsewhere.

He didn't do himself any favours with his comments along the lines of Stoke fans blaming him if it rains.
I think, on thay day, a lot of Stokies turned from thinking he was just an unfortunate, possibly unlucky, waste of money to thinking he was an utter narcissistic knobhead.

Regards to the Kenwyne Jones affair, it's not the first time we have put the blame on a player who is either leaving or we have wanted to leave. I'm not saying what Kitson said is true but we aren't as rosey as a club as some fans seem to think. Higgy and Kav spring to mind.

Just like players faking injuries or kicking up a fuss to get a move. Clubs will cause trouble to get people off the wage bill.
Both as bad as each other half the time.

In his defence the guy did have to deal with 60 thumps up and around his head for 90 mins with a midfield 50 yards off him sitting on the defenders toes.

I was really exictied the day he signed and thought he would do well for us.The time he spent with Reading in the prem he was a class act.He was brought as a record signing and not treated as such, was asked play in a way he couldnt or wouldnt.I dont think he ever really wanted to sign for us which didnt help, but i thought he was treated pretty badly by TP.

I'm not saying what Kitson said is true but we aren't as rosey as a club as some fans seem to think. Higgy and Kav spring to mind. If it was all fabricated by the club why hasn't Kenwyne managed to get his fine overturned...? Add in the fact that Mark Hughes has in that case lied through his teeth to everyone and it all leaves a very unsavoury taste. I'd back the Secret Footballers word over Mark Hughes anyday... As for Kitson being treated poorly maybe he was, maybe the manager didn't like him and by some account a fair few players didn't either. But this playing him out of position and not playing to his strengths stuff etc....He knew he was joining a Tony Pulis side, what did he expect....? He could've simply said; ''Nah, that's not the right place for my talents, I'll stay here or wait for Mowbray at the Baggies to come calling'' You'd have to be pretty dumb and a bit big headed to think a dinosaur like Pulis would change a lifetime of tactics to accommodate the mercurial Dave Kitson. The only player who 'on times' got that courtesy was a true Stoke great Ricardo Fuller. Can't believe that folk are building Kitson up so much He's shit

Kitson was treated dreadfully by Pulis. What was the sense of having a proven premier league goalscorer and someone who could bring a ball under control and lay it off better than anyone in a Stoke shirt in recent years (possibly excepting Peter Crouch) running around like a lunatic at right back? He worked hard for us but quite understandably got irritated at the 1950's tactics and sergeant major management skills of TP. I'm pretty sure he'd have been a great success had MH been in charge. Best of luck Dave.

all players have spells or clubs where they dont perform well, its quite telling he did nothing much after leaving us.
some players will never get purchased by prem clubs and it takes unexpected promotion to make them prem players like bullard, lambert, stepven fletcher and kitson.
some grasp that opportunity and forge sucessful prem and international careers some dont.
kitson was lucky that reading got promoted and relegated and that stoke set him for life by buying him, it didnt work out but he was obviously not good enough to remain at that level

It's a bit of a myth to suggest Kitson was a proven Premier League goalscorer at any point in his career.
In a 14 season career, he had one season where he scraped ten goals in the Prem. The rest of the time he was a bog standard journeyman.

Kitson was utter wank and on top of that he was a complete mard arse who made no attempt to settle at the club or to mix with the other players. You could see at Shrewsbury in the pre-season friendly that his signing would turn out to be a disaster and it was. He was shit! Pulis should be criticised for signing the useless tosser in the first place and for his famous DNA checks failing to spot that on top of signing a shit player, he was also signing a complete and utter wanker.

Sorry Dave can't agree with that I'm also not knocking Pulis as in that first season he did what he had to do But the reality is that he was constantly out of position and played a lone forrow up top The second season he was excellent when he played up top with support and was inexplicably dropped before the game at Goodison for an obviously unfit Beattie and when called upon for MCFC in the FA cup replay turned the game The rest is history

Mine is that Kitson was uber shit and a c**t to boot. We should never have signed him in the first place. He had 3 good seasons in his career, only one of which was in the top flight. He was every bit as bad as the likes of Tonge, Sonko and god knows who else. Expensive panic buys who we managed never to really need as we plotted our route to survival. Any injuries that would have meant relying on them would have meant certain relegation.
