Looking at the fixtures....as we all have...we could...possibly be on 20 points or even over....

There's not a chance we will win or draw every game I wish we did but being Stoke we'll make it hard for ourselves

I'm not so sure things will go that smoothly, but we do appear to have the easiest first quarter to a season that we have had since promotion. The downside is that our second quarter is tough.
But, being optimistic, I can see us beating 50 points for the season which would be nice.

Looking at the fixtures....as we all have...we could...possibly be on 20 points or even over.... Fuck me, we are so far up our own backsides these days that we don't even know what day it is. We had a great season last year and here's hoping for another one but we must come across as arrogant as fuck to supporters of the other teams outside the top 6 in the prem.

Irrespective of what we think about the season we had overall, you can't escape the fact that Hughes' teams start slowly - sometimes unhealthily so. We shouldn't get too carried away at the moment. We're still a mid-table team, and our results will probably continue to reflect this. I'll be happy enough with a steady start.

We shouldn't get carried away at all. Our finish to last season was pretty spectacular and I honestly believe that the quality of the Premier League was the very worst I can recall last season. That's not putting a downer on Stoke because I'm more than happy with what we did last season but I do think we will do very well to get close to equaling it this coming season. I don't care how unambitious people think I am, I'll be happy if we're nowhere near the bottom. I think this coming season will be much tougher than last season.

I don't think it will be tougher at all . I see many clubs who have not improved their lot up to now although things might change. I see QPR , Villa and Burnley getting relegated and clubs like WBA , Leicester , West Ham and Sunderland all struggling to stay up. I think we will finish 7th or 8th barring too many injuries this season

Mark Hughes' past seasons in charge at any club don't really start well, but then they get momentum as the season goes on and have a strong finish. But lets hope for a good start

I'm undecided. I keep rolling this about in me head, but it's far too soon to tell how it's going to pan out. I'd be happier when the window shuts before making any bold statements. The dynamics of some clubs will change considerably. Today I'd say Southampton look rickety, that was West Brom last week, less so now. A move like Carroll back to Newcastle, or if there's any movement through the newly promoted clubs. Top clubs are strengthening and might yet do a few magpie moves into other folks' nests. As promised we had a better second half of the season. And we did well against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc.. But there were a few tame displays against lesser teams, Norwich, Palace, Cardiff etc, so an easy start isn't no guarantee of points. Obviously I was over the moon with some of the passages of play, the performances last season and players I'd started to become unsure about stepped up: Whelan, Adam, Muniesa, Wilson, N'Zonzi, Odemwingie, Butland, all ended up exceeding my expectations. There's loads to be positive about. Tinged with some hesitancy. Let's hope the signings strengthen the squad to avoid a re-occurance of the ropey times around xmas when we were shipping goals, and enable us to rotate more effectively at the very least. There were instances where the subbing was spot on {bringing Assaidi on vs Chelsea}, but there were plenty of instances where game changing opportunities were missed. Wilson Palacios on for a five minute jog, Marc Wilson left wing. Some of it's hindsight, but it's these marginals that will take us higher. The rewards of resting players was reaped with N'Zonzi, Adam, and Walters, but these were brought on by suspensions rather than inspired management. I thought a few players were over used and played through illness/injury, which adversely affected their and our performance: Huth, Arnie, Pieters particularly spring to mind, but there were times when I thought Cameron, Crouch, {Ireland and Walters} should have been rested. I know I'm not paid £1mil to make these decisions, but it's part of being into nogger, thinking you know about management. I'm more than happy with Mark Hughes and Mark Bowen so far. Fantastic first season. Brilliant cut-price business, with Arnie and Muniesa particularly wetting the whistle. So, iron out these creases, sign a tricky winger {as a minimum}, brush up on the old free kick and shooting practice, don't capitulate in the Cups and we'll be in Europa qualifiers this time next year. Cup win or 6th on goal difference {above Spurs}.

I think we will finish 7th or 8th barring too many injuries this season We took points off the top teams last season including beating Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. They will all be much tougher this coming season. You have to figure that West Ham, Sunderland and West Brom will be better than last season. So even if we make the massive assumption that the promoted teams will finish below us (far too arrogant an assumption for me) we would have to improve to do anywhere near as well as last season. I like the look of our squad but I think we will find the coming season much tougher than many are thinking. I do think there are plenty of teams that will finish below us but we will have done extremely well if we finish in the top half again.

12 points and i'd be delighted with that.
The key is the new lads, particularly Diouf, settling in early.

I said on another thread I'd be happy with 10th to 14th. Aspiring to improve is one thing but the other teams won't take us lightly next season so it will be harder.

Another season with 50 points and a top ten finish and I would be more than pleased! Add a decent cup run to this and it would probably be as good as it can get!

Expectation is far too high so I'll go for, top 10 finish, a half decent cup run and 1 away win at a big club (Arsenal, Man U, Spurs)

A brutal set of fixtures follow these 9 opening games and if we were to only garner 12 points from them our league position will look very precarious at xmas as it did last season and I really don't fancy that kind of buttock clenching tension again over xmas and January. It's not good for your health as much as anything else.

Villa (H) - 3 Hull (A) - 3 Man City (A) - 0 Leicester (H) - 3 QPR (A) - 1 Newcastle (H) - 1 Sunderland (A) - 0 Swansea (H) - 3 Southampton (A) - 1
15 points at most realistically.
