Widen the boothen concourse and make the toilet doors wider. Oh and get a tv in the concourse near.block 24. Beyond that and a few new murals it's ok. The concourse needs brightening up. The grey floor & plain brick walls are so depressing. I'm sure if the club wanted fans to volunteer to give it a lick of paint, there would be plenty of supporters who would come forward?

Already been done mate. It was done last week by a contractor. Although they've swapped the grey for two tone Grey and the floors have been painted with special, Grey, grip paint.

They have come down due to the impending break up with Brittania Building Society (I'm guessing) ?

Just taken the dog for a walk around the ground.
Faye is still well and truly alive, an there are a couple of skips with empty paint pots dotted around.
Other than that it's still the same concrete, faded stadium it has been for the last 10 years ;D

I'm not ITK. I only know about the painting because I was off on a weeks break from work and went out for a walk and inexplicably (that's what i told the missus...) ended up at he Brit. All the doors were open with painters going in and out and I went in for a nosey around. The posters were still up then so i'm assuming they are staying. The outside has had a nice clean up aswell. All red doors and trims have been re-glossed and the white cantilever pylons/struts have been redone. Looks very nice indeed.

Last time I took my dog for a walk around the Brit the bottom of 3 or 4 of the turnstile doors on the sentinel stand looked broken and rotted. Clearly the quality is showing on the initial build

Can't be arsed looking for another expansion thread so this will do..
Do you think it's now time to expand the Brit?
It seems we're upgrading everywhere but in terms of stadium capacity and the size of the fanbase.
This IMO is the single most important component (today) in ensuring our continued growth and appeal as a club. I don't know how the club can do it but in order to keep our top players in the seasons to come I think we need to start attracting bigger attendances of 35K+. We need to make inroads on the clubs above us in this regard.
Yes, some posters will argue that we have a few empty seats and as such no reason to expand. However I'd rather we were proactive and expand by a few K now so that we'll be prepared next season for further growth. I can't imagine that there aren't more fans in total or more fans that want to come to games now than there were a couple of seasons ago.

Imagine all the Barcelona bandwagon supporters in England. They have to choose Stoke as their second team now

I believe they have plans in place which have been approved. I would hazard a guess that they will be implemented after this season based on how well we do.

The way it is now in the Premier League an extra 5k supporters attending home matches will hardly make a jot of difference financially to the Club. It may make for a better and more comfortable Stadium but that's about it. What will make a big difference is if we continue to improve our playing style and of course results. Our international fan base would increase, and therefore our merchandising revenue, better results would place us higher up in the League, attracting more live TV appearances and bigger prize money. Obviously The more revenue, the better players we can afford.

I believe there is already foundations for a 2nd tier on Q-Railing Stand so that could be added if we wanted to keep the through wind then we could at same time as extending the capacity.

They can't do anything now, the season is upon us, seats sold etc. When the time does arrive it will be a case of as we leave the ground for the last time of the season the builders will be in the very next day. Wether it's possible to expand in the close season or if they'll have to shut part of the stands adjacent I don't know.

In this regard it's about perception more than money. As it stands the Brit is lagging behind the clubs other facilities, players and league position when it comes to progress. If you want to compete with the likes of Everton/Spurs/Newcastle then you've also got to look the part. 5K won't make much difference I agree, but it doesn't represent much investment or risk either. I'm sure however that there's quite a bit of difference between Newcastle and Sunderlands gate receipts and ours which enables them to offer higher wages than us.

Wouldn't disagree, but we would need more than the corners filled in to catch up to Newcastle, avg 50k, and Sunderland avg 40k. Which begs the questions, is there the possibility to expand the current Stadium, and if there is could we fill it.

Plenty of foundations for further tiers were placed when originally built so it could be increased. Obviously just the cost of any extensions would need to be taken into consideration.

Say we increase the stadium by 5k and we sell out every seat for the 19 home games at £30 thats an increase of over 2.8 mil a season I know to us that's a lot, to a prem team it isn't much, but it all goes towards the FFP. More money in equates to more money out.

More money in equates to more money out. Plus drinks and maybe something to eat if you can get to the bar. 2.8m is quite substantial as the cost for filling in a corner was quoted around 3m I think. On here it was anyway. Either way it should be recouped after 2 years. May also not go a long way towards a transfer fee but it works out at around another 53K per week to add to the wage bill (a top earner) or could go far in terms of stadium upgrades/facilities, more staff, etc. Or get pumped into marketing.

Three key things to do to the stadium for me:
Transport infrastructure: better roads around the ground, better car parks, walkways, lighting, bridges. A small station added to the railway by the bridge.
Stadium Expansion: Fill the corner in and consider extending the boothen back. Move the scoreboard, add a commentary box and maybe a wind block behind it. Also extend the concourse back so it's the full width of the stadium like Cardiff. Take a serious look at safe standing. Quantity of fans is important long term.
Fan Experience Improvements: More TVs on the concourse. Add a statue in front of the main stand. Create a family area outside the family stand with places to eat, place for kids to kick a football around etc. Create a separate building behind the boothen for pre match beers, a small shop and ticket office. Continue to 'Stokify' the stadium with flags, art, murals etc.

I think our ground is pretty naff. It was cheaply built at a time, but we were a small team in dire need of a stadium. Derby, Middlesborough and Reading did a much better job of theirs. Granted at the time they were doing much better than us. If we are to progress as a club, coupled with what goes on, on the playing side we need to fill in the corners, and eventually we will have to add to the top of the Q stand and the Boothen. With the strides we are making, we will get more people through the doors, we could lower the cost of season tickets and make the same amount or slighty more due to the quantity of people through the gates.

Planning permission is only valid for a certain period of time so all the work that went into the plans last season will go to pot if they don't use it.
Not sure if it's 3 or 5 years you have to start although as long as you have started you can take as long as you want to complete.

I would guess that a stadium upgrade (and I mean upgrade) to modernise it completely would attract many more fans and increase ST sales substantially.
