Indeed indeed plus a £30million debt wonder how that happened. Perhaps we would have been better off making a profit in the Championship. Seems that's what you're after? Don't bother Sheik, Carpslayer is on every pointless thread arguing with folks, the new Slogger/************** ?

Why would we have made a profit in the Championship ?, the argument about how much money has come into the club due to been in the PL is disproportionate to these losses, where were did these massive losses come from, strange how the debt has been reduced by £26million in one year.

I'm not sure you can get away with that, is it not the case that the debt is down despite the spending going up, owing to the largesse of the new TV deal? If I have that wrong (I haven't checked it) then look out for a groveling apology from me.

Part of the legacy left to us. Indeed. That and five years and of stable Premier League football. Changing bait. Depends what you are referring to as stable. The playing side was on a downward track. Off the field couldn't agree more as CEO of the year demonstrates. <hoping to land a greater spotted Exec fish Scholesius Scholesius>
Anyway back to Palacios, if he got through a medical that Ba couldn't [can of worms I know] then either we took him anyway and ignored the medical advice, or whatever has failed him has happened since joining. Apart from his gentlemen's bits I don't remember him being injured, though it's hard to tell with the amount of playing time. Which suggests we took him with a problem in place. If so that makes the £6m look even more ridiculous.

We made a much reduced loss of £5 million for the year just ended. That's well down on the previous year's £31 million loss - but it is still a loss so I don't see how the debt will have been reduced. We might make a small profit this current year and start to reduce the debt - but that is in the future, not the present.

But our spending Lakeside, did that go up last season? Sure, we made a smaller loss but on much larger income, my suspicion is we spent even more than the Pulis' final season.

We haven't seen the detailed figures but our wage bill increased and we spent (and are still spending) large amounts on the expansion of Clayton Woods. The other thing to remember is that, although we didn't sign many new players for big transfer fees, we will still have been including the amortised costs in the accounts for the big transfers of previous years. You'll need to speak to an accountant if you want any more than that - I'm up to my (limited) knowledge limit with what I have already told you!

I think we deserve a full and frank explanation and apology from our old Gaffer regarding the decision to sanction Palacios' transfer to Stoke. There's only one man up to the task, one man that can infiltrate and get us the result we want. I now declare the official 'Joedog Phone Credit Society' OPEN - all donations and top-ups welcome!

It has to be a mental issue, surely. He did a little bit of running, kicking and diving in the world cup so his legs and knees work fine. I don't ever think he got over his brothers murder.

That little bit of running, kicking and diving was probably enough to knacker his chances of passing a medical. You know how your body feels when you've spent three years doing nothing more strenuous than drinking endless cups of tea, then foolishly volunteer to help someone move house and suddenly find yourself carrying a piano down a flight of stairs. You end up aching all over for weeks.

He now has less than a year to run on his contract. I think unless a loan to a club willing to pay a significant proportion of his wages materialises, the answer is to pay up his contract and take the hit to our finances (£1.3 million ish?) That solves the problem of having him around but, of course, it does not help our situation under the Financial Fair Play rules as it does not free up any wages from the budget as the paid up contract counts as wages.

That was my point John - I was being facetious.
It's all very well saying we need to get him off the wage bill but there's really bugger all we can do about it, he has a contract with us and I'm pretty sure that'd we'd let him go on a free if somebody would take him.
Thing is,, nobody will.

Pulis had some strangeness with some signings and Plassy was certainly one of the strangeness ones. I don't often defend Pulis but he thought just like the vast majority on here (me included) that he would be the answer to our midfield problems at the time when all we had was Dean Whitehead etc . i think it came to a surprise to him how shot he was and i'd say more to blame would be Tones mate Harry for not being honest with him at the time.

Carpslayer perhaps you should stick to fishing pal or is that what you are doing with your cleverly disguised username. The fact you are blaming Tony Pulis for the financial state of the club shows you know very little on football club basics. Sent from my C6603 using proboards
