Palacios's number would be far more representative of his rightful place in the squad if it was rotated by ninety degrees.

Because Brek has a massive part to play next season, trust me, everyone writing him off will be shown how good the lad really is If only! It is a bit odd though don't you think? Why give a player that can't get near the first team the number 11 shirt? I think this is a good indication he is set to fight Arnautovic for that slot next season

Even if they were at the World Cup I'd've thought Geoff and odemwingie would have been included in the squad at least to join up later.

Why has 11 stayed with Shea? Thought a new first team striker would have had 11 It will represent the minutes he will be in action in the first team next season.

The fact Bachmann travelled with the first team for most of last season to away games to get him used to the surrounding, would suggest that he is seen as more ready than Eve. But Eve has rave reviews when he plays and for his country

It's very interesting to see Shea been given the 11 shirt, it seems he's going to get a chance to prove himself this season.

Bjoan is 27. With Diouf at 18, both add up to the number 9! Coincidental?

Pity he stops goals lol Funny you should say that, as I was talking to his youth team coach here in Bermuda from his school days. Dale always wanted to come out of goal and play up front. Being a very big lad from young, he used to sometimes come out in the second half and bulldozer through the little kids and score a few times, but was eventually persuaded that his place was in goal - that his growth spurt would be found out in later years, so he'd never make a striker, but could be a very good keeper!

With Bojan being give no. 27 and not 24, that must surely mean Assaidi is on his way as they have kept his number vacant

Probably mentioned elsewhere but i'm not surprised Bojan is 27...its the number he wore when he first broke into the Barcelona first team...

Out of curiosity, can a player have any say over what squad number he wants?

Out of curiosity, can a player have any say over what squad number he wants? Yeah sure, some have made it terms of their transfer (like Shearer who when he was moving from Blackburn told all the clubs he was negotiating with that he would be number 9)

Out of curiosity, can a player have any say over what squad number he wants? There was a programme on Liverpool FC the season Rodgers was first appointed and it went through there pre season. They had signed Joe Allen, an it showed him and Rodgers discussing what numbers were available and what number he wanted, so yeah, I guess they do have some say in it.
