Hughes will do with him what he did with Muniesa, filter him in slowly like he did with Muniesa & it's the right thing to do, he really needs to get in that fucking gym though with the personal trainer or he will struggle imo.

We need to calm down with this kid, he's of small stature and only 9/10 stone. He was a great talent as a teenager but since every club that's loaned him has sent him back. Don't heap pressure on him, he won't set the place alight next year it'll take a year or so and even then he may not do it at all. I'd stick him in the gym with a few protein drinks.

Poor and ineffective? Not at all - He did okay for his first game ever with Stoke, lest we forget it was a preseason friendly and he only played the first half with an experimental team selection.

Silly of me I know, but I'm interested to see what he is like on a proper pitch, playing with fully fit team mates blended into a starting 11 rather than a different side each half. I would even be prepared to give him longer than 7 days to meet, let alone get to know, his new team mates.
We know that part of the plan is to bulk up like Muni did, in a few months time we could well have a long term contract with a player whose value we couldn't afford.
I'm prepared to give him longer than a week before I judge him.

Are we really that bad that we castigate him after 45 mins of a pre-season friendly in a half-strength team? Damn......
He has good touch and will get to know his team mates, the tactics etc as the selection settles into our strongest XI (he won't have Shotton on the right wing outside him for much longer!). It is interesting that he seems to be in competition for the number 10 spot with Ireland, not challenging for the right wing berth. Let's give him a chance to get used to us and our league. It took Arnie a while, and he is a far more imposing physical specimen. I have one name for those who say he is too small to make it in the Premier League - Gianfranco Zola.

Haven't watched the game but nevertheless seems a pretty pathetic response from certain fans. Give the guy a chance he's a great talent. Same goes for Diouf. We can't start making judgements based on 1 or two pre season games at a local park in an Austrian nature reserve . Both will prove great acquisitions I'm sure.

You're talking about the same supporters that declared Arnautovic a 'lazy show pony' after about 10 games or so.

The biggest thing he needs right now is an arm around him, and sadly he probably won't get it, if he doesn't dribble past 4 players and dispatches it into the top corner 10 minutes into his debut the fans will come down on him with vitriol not seen since the creation of warfare.
It's rather sad, it seems any flair players we bring in are expected to be amazing from the get go, and are crucified when they make a slow start, Arnautovic is a prime example, yet plodders like Walters and Wilko are nigh on worshipped, their names are sung from the rafters every game, even after Walters scored two own goals and missed a penalty in the same fucking match he was still being cheered, if that was Marko or Bojan they'd be chased down Stanley Matthews way by an angry mob of pie-throwing toerags hell bent on hanging them from the nearest lamppost.
If we are to evolve as a team we have to evolve as fans as well, and firing shots at our own players who are already low on confidence is not the way to go about it, Bojan turned down Champions League football to sign for us, just bear that in mind, a player who has scored in the semi final of the champions league for Barcelona chose to sign for us. I think he's earned a few iffy games until he recovers some form.
But no, give it until half time against Villa and he'll be a "worthless show pony" and "overrated dogshit".
