It's going to be great! Excited to see Hughes develop the new style of football even more. Can't wait to see new signings put on a show (Diouf and Bojan). In some ways, i think we will get a better view of Hughes-Era Stoke in this Season more so than last season, with new players of his choosing and all.

He has had a year to put his stamp on the squad and bring in his players for his system. It will be an exciting year.

You know what? I've always been a pessimist when it comes to Stoke. Being 22 i've grown up knowing Stoke to be a lower league team, even when we finally made the prem i still expected it to be a one season thing.
For the first time ever i'm going to strap a pair of nuts on and say this season is the season all of that changes. The end of last season coupled with the most exiting transfer window i've ever know has got me more than a bit moist for what to come.
Let turn up on the 16th, pick up where we left of at Villa away and tear them a new one!
Another top 10 and a decent cup run will do Sparky!

Just tried to pick a first eleven in my head - and I cant - too many good players now. We have a proper premier league squad equipped for a long hard season. Cup competitions too.
Of course I dont get cocky until ten wins are in the bank but, I really do feel some teams are in for a real football lesson at the BRIT next season and instead of approaching each away fixture with trepidation -at best hoping for a point, there's more than a few clubs we can now confidently turn over on their own 'middins'
The one risk -the big risk is:- someone comes in for our marque* players towards then end of the window
I just pray we've slipped under the radar (again)
Top half finish - expected now - cup runs too (why not) -filling in the corner (both even) - at least one is now sadly overdue - maybe next summer ?
marque players = *
Begovic Shawcross Nzonzi Arnie Crouchy Muniesa
PS Hughesy playing 'half teams' for single halves in his pre-season - got to find away to lose the deadwood over the next 4 -6 weeks and all will be ready

We can field a decent second 11 as well:
First team
Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Wilson Pieters Nzonzi Whelan Odemwingie Ireland Arnautovic Diouf
Second team
Sorrenson Cameron Huth Teixiera Muniesa Sidwell Adam Walters Bojan Assaidi (when he signs) Crouch
I think even the second 11 would have a chance at avoiding relegation

We have a good squad and a decent chance of doing well.
However we're still an injury or two, a transfer request or hissy fit away from a relegation battle.
Our position is much stronger than twelve months ago but there's plenty of problems to deal with before we can be confident of a top half finish IMO.
Time for one or two to come back down to earth.

As I said - wont get too cocky until we have ten wins under our belt
SO
any reason why, given the squad we have now got - this cant be done before Christmas ?
is this coming back down to earth enough for you ?
surely these are reasonable suppositions ?

No reason whatsoever that we can't do that by Christmas. Equally no reason whatsoever that we could be stuck in the bottom 5 or 6 at Christmas. This time last year a lot of people, including a lot on here, fancied us to go down. A lot has changed but it doesn't take much to get dragged into a relegation fight. I'm confident we should do ok but talk of nailed on top half finishes is nonsense.
