"@tancredipalmeri: Stoke City interested in Livorno's Paulinho, according to the words of his own president. Pricetag approx 10m €. Superbly smart signing" EDIT: No, not him, this one.

As I reacted on FB, 10 million for a 28 year old from the Italian Second Division is outrageous 10 million euro so £8m. Tancredi Palmeri is a respected journalist which is heartening. Not having seen Paulinho play in Serie B, I'd have to take his word for it.

Didn't they play in Seria A last year and got relegated, so will play in Seria B next season. In which he apparently got 15 goals in 35 games in a relegated side. According to Tinternet!

Perhaps it would be a great signing but it would be odd for £8 million. He seems to have almost no pedigree at all and is probably not more than 2 or 3 years away from his pipe and slippers NOTE: Just seen the note that Livorno were Series A last season so maybe no pedigree is unfair. Having said that it seems he spent much of his time at Livorno on loan at Grosseto and Sorrento, not sure which league they are/were in.

Bet your bottom euro, it has taken a bid for 2 and made it 8. Just in case anyone is daft enough to pay it? If only there was a Glass' guide for footballers.

The Livorno owner says we are interested, as other PL clubs. I think a 6 - 8 milion is a right price for him, but as i see now, i will not buy him because we have same if not better finisher (Diouf - Crouch - Odemwingie). He scored 15 goal in 35 matches in the serie A with a relegated team, so i think he could easily play for the PL. I still hope if we have to buy another Striker, is Graziano Pellè.

This rumour keeps popping up on the Internet and in papers! I really can't see Stoke paying the quoted £8M for a 28-year-old, but what do you think?

If he can put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis, yes. I don't know much about him to be honest. Does anyone know if he's any good?

He's a proven goal scorer and that's just what we need, imo, Sparky deserves a bit of money to spend, he's made 4 signings so far and hasn't spent a penny, I'd be happy to see a big money move for a forward come to stoke

As I've said on the transfers thread (where this is already being discussed) our current objectives don't seem to include paying good money for older players. We'll pay good money for a player who will have a resale value if we decided to move him on after a few years. But players of 28 will only be signed if we can get them cheaply or on Bosmans - like Wingie, Bardsley and Sidwell.

If it is true, on top of a large fee for Rivière, assuming that is also true, I think it means there is already a deal for Crouch in place, probably a few others as well

I agree, but tone bought crouchey when he was 30/31 for 10 million, and he's scored around 10 goals a season, while paulinho is younger, has experience and is a proven goal scorer, so maybe he's a decent target for us, I'd give him a go

Even with his goal record he isn't one that excites me, most of his goals seem to be at Serie B level.

I just hope he won't turn out like Danny osvaldo, southampton 15 million pound signing and he did fuck all then got sold mid-season

That's right but it looks like that was his one and only season in Serie A. The rest of his goals have been at Serie B and C level.

So we won't be sure that he's worth 8 million until we see him, I'd just be happy with rivière but always glad to see new faces

Id rather not see him here, players from Serie A tend not to do so well in the Prem.
Keep Adam to battle it out with Ireland for the position next season and just bring in Riviere for the wings and we are done.
