I really have to laugh about Royle's comments following his last two league defeats (against us and then Norwich)....
Joe Royle's dominating team...... "We have lost after totally dominating. It is very frustrating. I thought we played them off the park.
Ipswich are the best team in the division..... "At our best we have got more quality that the top two, but we don't have the resilience and defensive nous."
Joe Royal on how Ipswich can't score... "We can pass the ball as well as anyone in this division – but that is not winning us games at the moment."
Automatic promotion..... "Automatic promotion is going to be very difficult now - we'd probably have to win all our remaining matches - but we'll keep battling away."
Joe Royle on how playing well for 45 minutes means you're the best..... Royle saw his side outplay their East Anglian neighbours in the opening 45 minutes.
Joe Royle blames the thickness of paint..... He said: "We would have been 2-0 up at the break had there been one less coat of paint on the woodwork.
Joe Royle blames luck.... "That sums up the sort of luck we've been having recently but we can't afford to feel sorry for ourselves.
Joe Royle plays Millwall next.... "We've just got to pick ourselves up and move on to the next game."
Joe Royle thinks Ipswich battered Stoke... "It's the second time in a week that we have comprehensively outplayed a side and lost the game by two goals," said the Town boss, whose team are now 14 points behind their Norfolk neighbours in the Division One table.
And finally, a comment on Ipswich's defensc, showing how they have been "totally dominating" and how they have "got more quality that the top two", and why "Automatic promotion is going to be very difficult now", and of course why he's relying on such desperate words...
Division One Defensive Table...
Pos/ Team/ Goals conceded 1 Norwich 28 2 West Brom 30 3 Sunderland 31 4 West Ham 32 5 Millwall 33 6 Wigan 35 7 Coventry 39 8 Sheff Utd 41 9 Preston 43 10 Cardiff 43 11 Nottm Forest 45 12 Stoke 46 13 Crewe 46 14 Gillingham 46 15 Reading 47 16 Rotherham 47 17 Watford 47 18 Walsall 47 19 Crystal Palace 50 20 Bradford 52 21 Derby 54 22 Burnley 56 23 Ipswich 57 24 Wimbledon 66
Says it all really.

Interesting reading. Ipswich have scored shed loads though as well but with a defence like that you will lose games.
Royle moaning that they should have won the last two games. Conceded 5 and managed 1 penalty...mmm....got what they deserved IMHO..nothing.

outplayed us? they weren't a patch on the way Norwich battered us in the second half at home, or how Wigan started off at the Brit a couple of weeks ago. They had possession outside the box but we soaked up everything they had comfortably, de Goey made a couple of saves but he was hardly peppered with difficult shots, was he?

I heard Royle say how disappointed he was because for the second time a week they'd 'passed a team to death'.
Goals Joe, that's what it's all about.
Joe Royle, more like Jim Royle.

In cases like this the following applies: That scoreline again Stoke City 2 Ipswich Town 0.
No argument Joe Peasant!
