Pace is all he does have. If that were the case, this summer he wouldn't be costing us 4x as much as Whelan who can only pass... ;/ Would that be Whelan who has consistently controlled games this season. I'd have him for less than 2mil, any more and I'd walk away, the thing is would he be happy to be a bench player, because in my eyes that's all he is, due to his lack of crossing.

A holding midfielder control games by passing! I never. You need goals to win. Thats why he's worth 4 mil and why Liverpool wanted him until Sterling shined. Hardly only bench worthy. Crossing? This isn't pulisball its not a end all be all. Id rather Arnie and Oussama create goals then "hope." Difference of opinion I guess.

Since when is a winger being able to cross Pulis ball, you're right we do need goals and thats where a winger being able to cross comes in handy, we've mainly used him from the bench when fit so I'm guessing Hughes thinks thats the best place for him, coming on in games to try and input some pace if needed.

Hughes brought him in, and Arnie unlike old vincent there. ;/ That's another thing I'm unsure of, do we have 4 mil to spend on him even if Hughes was willing, I'd be surprised if he got over 10mil to spend in the summer, unless we sell Bego, and with other areas in more urgent need of an up grade I'm not convinced he'd go for it, maybe another loan would be best all round.

We will have more than that easily. The free signings, PL ad money and early ticket renewals coupled with merchandise and then bet365 coates money they've saved... We will have that without selling Bego. Easily. Plus When seniors leave on non contract renewals or transfers we will have alot of room. Bego only helps that. When PC smiles its good. I wouldn't be surprised if we already have a deal with Real or someone else for Bego. Didn't he say that this will be our biggest window yet?

I'm not so convinced, didn't we lose 30mil (think I read that on here), also Coates had bet365 money last year along with decent season ticket sales (which pays for pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things), haven't seen that hes said its going to be our biggest window, but he may have , only time will tell I suppose.

Shocking miss against Cardiff.I remain unconvinced. I think Arnies miss was equally as bad against Spurs. Assaidi is a good impact player could do a job for us.

Agree re the miss but Assaidi hadn't been on the pitch for too long (should that matter?) I think that he is an exciting prospect, so far he has played alongside / in front of a variety of players and like all of our recent additions, they need time to get used to each other, and established team mates in order to anticipate play. Healthy competition for starting places is just as important, he would be part of a squad of players who can be interchanged without weakening the team. What's more with the MH (apparent) policy of rewarding players who are playing well, I see him making the starting 11 when given the chance

No skill there. Considering the timing of this goal and the opposition it was a great strike under pressure

Has no pace whatsoever, can't beat a man on the outside, can't cross the ball and shows little invention with his passing. We can do much better than Assaidi. Sorry but have to disagree with each point there. someone else said he was poor on Saturday & again I thought the exact opposite.

If he can also play on the right-side then definitely, cuz it keeps Walters further from the starting 11.
Plus if it lets us put Odemwingie up top and get rid of Crouch he could be a real asset next season.
At least we know what we have. We could go and spunk 10 million on Tom Ince and then he turns out to be a complete flop for us.

I don't know where this notion of him having a load of pace comes from? Over the first 5 yards maybe but I've not seen him flying past his man like arnautovic or odemwingie can.
I do think he's a good player though; plenty of skill and probably has the quickest feet. You could see after the goal against Chelsea his confidence was up and I thought he was starting to really look good. Shame he picked up that injury. If the money is right I think he would be a good signing. In the same breath though I wouldn't pay over the odds for him.

After beating his man he needs to cross the ball a bit sooner if he isn't going to shoot. Once he can anticipate who is in there to cross to, the attack will improve imo

Hughesy said he likes him because he is a game changer.
He frightens defenders coming in off the left onto his right foot, but I'd also like to see him swap wings with Arnie a little more. It would be more natural for him to go on the outside and try to cross if he was on the right wing. If a deal can be done, I'm not sure we're going to do much better for the money. Pace pushes defences deeper and gives a bit more room to play.
Looking at that great strike against Chelsea again, Cahill's attempted "challenge" doesn't fill me with confidence for the World Cup.

No skill there. Classic hit and hope. What he should have done is beaten his man down the wing an crossed it... £4m or less and I'd take him.

Get a RB so Cameron might go into midfield (his natural position) a striker (with pace, maybe to push Odemwingie up top) a new LM (Arnie onto the right)

Before Assaidi got injured and he was getting game time, he was improving and becoming stronger on the ball, certainly an impact sub with the potential to be an excellent player. At 25 needs to improve to his potential rapidly from now on. At about £2m ish would be worth signing; don't see a future for him at Liverpool.

I think we can do better! That's not slating assaidi as he has been a cracking signing for us but when you look at arnie it's proof there are players out there who won't cost as much as assaidi and could be better.

He plays there for the USA as they have a shortage of cb's but he played all his club football prior to stoke as a centre midfielder!

He's doing us a favour by filling in at RB
