I like our stadium being called "Britannia" just as I always liked the Victoria Ground, neither smacked of commercialism even if one was a Building Society and the other a Public House. It would be sad imho to have to change to something more overtly 'corporate' as has happened to several clubs. most recently Bolton Wanderers. So, will we soon be sitting in the Bet 365 Arena? I guess if our new kit makers got on board we could be the Warrior Stadium ...just about put up with that

I tend to agree. I wasn't a fan of "The Britannia" at first but as you say, in spite of the fact that it was a commercial name, it tends not to be seen as that now and it has perhaps suited out image over recent years, especially those in The Premier League.
I would hate us to be called the Bet365 Arena or anything else that was so overtly commercial.
I agree about "Warrior"
I suppose the game is all about money these days, so the name will inevitably change at some stage in the future.
Interestingly, the longer a Stadium keeps its name, the more you associate it with the Football Club and not the sponsor?
I'd virtually forgotten that the "Reebok" in The Reebok Stadium had anything to with sportswear?
We just have to hope that any future sponsor doesn't want to rename the Stadium something ridiculous.

Seeing as Britannia don't exist now and the whole Co-op bank is in the shit I don't think the Co operative Stadium is a goer. But I wouldnt rule out the Bet 365 stadium if they change it unless a big sponsor comes by and thats unlikely. I always thought that Britannia got the sponsorship on the cheap anyway. Wrights Pie Stadium Greggs Stadium Weatherspoons Arena possible for any of these given the class of the area and it's local diet.

Unfortunately, I believe a name change is inevitable. Britannia no longer exists and, as 1raytuper indicates, the Co-op is certainly in no position to continue to put money into it. Besides, I'd personally hate the thought of being known as the Co-op stadium anyway. Their corporate colours are Blue and I can't see that happening to the Brit. I somehow don't see BET365 wanting naming rights either, as they will be looking to generate funds elsewhere, rather than out of their own pot again. I reckon it's a case of watch this space and sit and hope that we get a real quality company stumping up mega bucks to have their name in lights.

Was working with a Bolton fan today, he said it is going to be weird as they all know the shopping area next to their ground as 'the reebok' as well. 'Just nipping down to the reebok for a couple of hours to get some new jeans', might change to 'just nipping down to the wonga to get some pizzas from iceland' I wouldn't mind the name something like bet365 arena, or hem heath slag heap

We could build a giant bottle kiln structure over the place, out of that lightweight material they used on the Allianz Arena in Munich, and call it the Potter's Kiln. Imagine, a three hundred foot bottle kiln all lit up in fluctuating red and white.
Joking aside, Britannia is just fine by me. If it really had to change though, then my vote would be for 'The New Victoria'.

I'd be gutted to lose 'The Britannia' as our stadium name. It'd always be known as 'The Brit' by Stoke fans but it'd be known as something else, something commercialised by everyone else. It just sounds tacky when reporters say stadium names like "the Sports Direct arena". Although I don't think Bet365 arena sounds too bad, I think we'll be looking to get investment from else where in the days of 'FFP'.
Can't see Warrior having anything to do with our stadium naming although it would probably sound ok, and suit our reputation.
Obviously some company names suit a ground better than others...something like Ford arena would sound better the the Krispy Kreme stadium. I'm not sure how big a company we could attract?

I dunna think it will be anything with Bet365 as it would mean more family money into the club they already put enough in. It will imho be a new name with an independent company. So it's anybody's guess what it could be be I have a sneaky thought it maybe a company from either the USA or Asia.As for the Brit I never thought I could get used to loosing the Victoria Ground but soon got used to it so I dunna mind as long as it brings in shit loads of money just hope it's not an embarrassment when the new name comes.

Remember when we were in the Europa League and our stadium was referred to as 'Stoke Stadium' on the TV graphics and that - That was odd.
Unless i've made that up in which case i'm odd, bit a' both.

If I remember rightly, Britannia's sponsorship of the ground ends before next season which means a name change is up for debate. I'd prefer it staying Britannia. I remember when I was up north, and we chatted about the Northern Rock Newcastle thing, they didn't even connect the dots between Britannia Stadium and Britannia Building Society. It only made sense when they pictured our shirts with the logo.
Britannia Stadium sponsored by Bet365?

mh, that was my point really, with both ground names the "commercial" link has never really been made in people's minds, which is great. Sadly I can't think of any organisation with such a name to carry on the tradition. Unless there is a St George's insurance firm out there, or maybe we could get Churchill!?

But I honestly remember that reference also... although I'm known to be a bit "odd" myself UEFA dictate the terms on their competitions and this means that only the advertisers who are sponsoring the competition get a mention on TV and Radio. So the Britannia name had to go as Britannia were the sponsor. I suspect that if another company were to sponsor the stadium and we also kept the name Britannia as a suffix then the "Durex Britannia" could be called the Britannia in a UEFA competition as Britannia would no longer be a sponsor.

Whatever company it is, the word Ground is the best suffix, the word Stadium is just about acceptable, but the word Arena can fuck off.
