Very happy. Form has been excellent of late - we've found a nice balance where the play is mixed up a bit and we're not as one-dimensional as we have been previously playing both turgid long-ball football in seasons gone by and the pass it about but can't get past the half way line stuff that we saw in Oct-Nov. The dressing room seems as united as ever, we've shipped out a big earner in Jones and brought in some tidy new players for very little money. Shawcross has adapted well to the change in tactics, Adam has come on, Whelan has improved on the ball with more options available to him. We even got away with losing Huth for >1/2 the season.
Add to that we might be on for our highest ever finish and biggest points total when we've spent less than most recent summer windows when I think a lot of us were just happy with staying up this season and you can't complain at all. Just hoping for a good window now and more of the same next season.

Wasn't sure at first, wanted him gone around October / November but hes won me over, very happy and very optimistic for next season. Make the right signings in the summer and we could be a top 8 team

Done ok. Let's see what next season brings if he is still here. Still can't stand him though.

The season has been an improvement over recent seasons, some great football, some garbage too but that's to be expected. I didn't think we'd finish as high as we will but some of that can be put down to the strange season it's been.
Overall I'd say Hughes has surpassed expectations but next season is the big one for him. There's no guarantee it won't go tits up next season like QPR did for him. I'm cautiously optimistic

Done OK, so far, not a massive improvement, but if we win two of these remaining games then I'd say he has done really well. Only "done ok"? What were you expecting in a transition season? Top 8 and a cup? You don't think the football has massively improved over last season?

It's not been all plain sailing and not all of the early season problems have been ironed out but I'd put this third in terms of most enjoyable seasons since promotion and only the pettiest of people wouldn't be happy with how things are going at the moment.

If we get 4 more points that will be our highest ever points tally in the Premier League. If that happens, tied in with the more entertaining style of play, I don't see how any fan can not be happy.
In fact, I said at the start of the season I'd be happy with survival this season, as we go through transition, and top 10 next.
In that context, I'm delighted.

First of all I'm going apologise for the OP for going off topic of the post.
It is getting to the point that we cant enjoy talking about subject of a post because we have the same idiots that keep changing the subject to start an argument....
people dont have common decency anymore, the op asked for this thread to be free of that rubbish yet same people are bringing up completely irrelevant just so you can argue....Why? we all love the same club, so why not actually get behind the team and manager that are doing well!
And if you prefer Tony Pulis over Stoke City then follow any club he manages instead of wasting the time of the Stoke City forum....Its pointless its past.
Get behind the team your meant to love, instead of one man who for the foreseeable future is not going be a manager of Stoke City FC
Again my appologies to the OP

10/10 I'd say. Took a while but the addition of Odimwingie has taken us to a new level.
Considering we've had: - virtually nothing to spend (compared with our peers) - a month without Bego, - over half the season without Huthy
And he's delivered: - much improved football - especially the final third of the season - mid table security with quite a few games to spare.
It can only be viewed IMHO as an excellent season.
We do need to continue this progression into next season...

In my opinion the most encouraging thing is how we are adapting our play to suit us not just to counteract the oposition. Yes we respect other teams but now we aren't afraid of opening up and playing football without being too scared to concede. Also now when we go a goal down I still think we have a chance of winning the game. The last few seasons have dragged and I don't actually want this season to end.

He's not 'he who shall not be named' so he's OK by me. Over 8000 posts and I reckon 6000 of them were to express your dislike for Pulis - we get the point.

Thanks to the run since February, it's turned out to be an excellent season. I don't see how he could have done any more. We've looked a bit goal shy in the last 3 or 4 games, but the Villa performance was beyond my wildest imagination.
As Rob points out we went through a shaky period, but with cool 20/20 hindsight that's only to be expected. Whatever the circumstances, shipping 5 to Newcastle, 3 to Spurs and another 5 to Liverpool in a short space of games was a bit scary.
I've enjoyed the change in style and the new additions look pretty good too. Well done to the coaching staff and the players.
Now let's beat Spurs and keep this fantastic home record going. Would really hope we can get at least 5 points in the last 3 games. They all deserve to break our Premier League points record.

Old Sparky had a bit of a 'mare for the first 7 months with only 5 wins, a flirtation with the bottom 3 and a goals per game record that made even Pulis' effort look decent.
But the last 10 weeks have been stellar, long may it continue!

We could've easily gone down in his last season with us and he showed no sign of trying to change things.

Not really. The more Pulis tried to push us on, the worse we became. We could've easily gone down in his last season with us and he showed no sign of trying to change things. Nobody knows if we would have gone down or stayed up. Just more utter bollox to slag pulis off. Obviously not you cretin. Nobody knows if Hughes will win the league with us next year, nobody knows if we will sign Ronaldo. However if you're not completely in love with him, it's easy enough to see that Pulis was not only on a run of playing the worst looking football, it was also becoming a very, very ineffective style in terms of points and our record after the new year was absolutely atrocious. One can therefore conclude that keeping Pulis for another season would've been a risk. No reason to slag him off, but he was turning into a fucking awful manager. Hughes has come in and we're now a team that looks comfortable in this league and as a bonus we're no longer a chore to watch. Nobody gives a fuck if you like Pulis, or if you're still upset about Hughes because you are an utterly irrelevant person in terms of Stoke City and you base your opinions on fuck all. Try not to bring your childish insecurities into everything for once.
