I think it was always likely to happen, it's not much of a ban if they only end up missing the January transfer window as they've been given a bit of time to do all their business for the next year or so now.
Hopefully the appeal fails and they extend the ban but I can't see it happening
... although I may change my opinion of them though should they send a few more like Muniesa our way.

All that's been done is,that the 18 month ban has been deferred pending the appeal.
Tactical move by the club as with Valdes and Puyol leaving this summer (out of contract) they need to sign replacements. This summer's signings will now be made with the knowledge that they could be the last for 18 months.
Same thing as appealing a 3 match ban when you know it is valid to defer the ban until less difficult games or a potential replacement comes back from injury

Barcelona…..the ultimate FIFA darlings.
A ban is a ban and it should remain, yet because its Barca they can just keep doing what they want, whatever that was!

It's just give them a get out of jail card as regards to their keeper.

They already have a deal in place to sign Marc Andre Ter-Stegen that was concluded before the ban, so the goalkeeper situation was never really an issue. As with any sentence, the punishment has been suspended pending appeal. The same happens in civil court, crown court and any sort of sporting ban.

To harp on an old issue of mine; there's so much money riding on the backs of the big clubs now that they cannot be allowed to fail and go into demise, otherwise the whole game will get into financial difficulties. Football is going the way of the banks, no matter what a mess-up they make, they cannot be allowed to go bankrupt or the whole industry in in danger of collapse.

Well a transfer ban should mean all business done in the summer and Any deals done at present should be invalid. That seems more of a punishment, yes the appeal has Been suspended so barca can go and strengthen in the summer, and no doubt get away with the whole thing Scot free.

I agree in part, but to refuse a club the right to appeal would turn football into a dictatorship, something that FIFA, for their shame, is moving too close towards. Now, I'm not against them extending the ban if they fail the appeal as further punishment for gaining the initial advantage.
