Doing something about the Brit would mean some people down at Stoke would have to get off their lazy arses and actually do some work. I'd love to know just what the hell all those people are doing down there.

If my memory isn't to fuzzy, Derby and Middlesbrough were built at the same time and almost identical plans. However the Brit was the cheapest of the three and took the longest to build, the reason for this I think was that left over materials and manpower came from the other two stadiums. I just cant see it lasting another 30 or so years and surely it doesn't fit modern stadium criteria, i.e. concourse size, entrance widths etc. Just done a quick check Derby and Boro cost 16 million the Brit cost £14.7 mill according to wiki.

I would love to see a corner filled in, but lets be honest commercial viability will mean that it will not happen. I dont even think that with a campaign by supporters to guarantee the cost of 1.5-3k season tickets would be enough. Its a crap ground, that has the bare minimum in terms of modern stadia, and it absolutely portrays the club how it was, back when it was built.... a mess.

With some imagination, hard graft and decent investment the Brit could be a fine ground.

Talking about stadiums; how come the Millenium Stadium, built in 1999 with a seating capacity of 75000, cost £121m to build but New Wembley, completed 6 years later with a 90000 seating capacity, cost nearly seven times more at nearly £800m? Both are EUFA Catagory 4 stadiums and both have retractable roofs.

Lets all be honest here, The Brit is pretty shit compared to most other new stadiums, it reflects a lack of money & investment when we moved. The cries for the corners to be filled in is because our ground is embarrassing and looks unfinished and nothing more. It will never be financially viable to fill the corners so rip it down and start again. Someone had to say it. If it's not financially viable to fill in the corners, then it won't be viable to rip it down and start again will it?

Spending a couple of million to fill a corner in = not financially viable. Tearing the ground down and building a new one, costing at least ten times more than filling a corner in = financially viable. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

If you want to see what one of the new grounds looks like as it becomes decrepit then go to the Stadium of Light.
It is in a shocking state and already needs serious money spending on it.
Like the Brit, it was built in the middle of nowhere, but unlike the Brit it doesn't look as though hefty sums have been spent on it to keep it in good condition.

The HR dept must be even worse not to have weeded some out & as for Scoles, way past his sell by date...

Don't know if I dreamt this, but didn't dunderland only pay for what is above ground level ??? Think they had agreement with coal board or something along lines of coal board covered costs for everything under ground level.

I don't care what the Stadium looks like. The seat I sit in is pretty comfy with a cracking view of the pitch. To top it all off, the product i'm watching on the pitch is very watchable right now, so i'm delighted.
All the paint could flick off the metalwork overnight and I couldn't give a toss!

If we can improve the team (depending on signings) in the summer window, I believe we'll have no problem filling the stadium. I'm feeling really positive in this respect. Bring it on!

Someone should go down with a pressure washer to blow off all the moss and shit by the Boothen. That would be a start.

Knock it down now or even give it the Vale and rebuild on the Vic site. A proper stadium in a built up area with some life. Is anything else being built around Trentham Lakes?

Some serious work could be done with very little money spent first up a bloody good clean it looks terribly dirty at the moment and was always going too being in the position it is open to all the elements.
There is no way in hell a new stadium will be signed off now or anytime in the near future when we can't even fill in a bloody corner.

One thing that always annoys me is how easy it would be to improve little things about the Brit. Widening the path from Heron Cross for example. The underpass could do with livening up a bit too, moving Sir Stan to a more visible place and just cleaning the place up a little in general.
I'm sure when we first came up there was talk of moving the tunnel to the middle of the West Stand but I've no idea how they would have done that.

The path would surely be the responsibility of the stoke council not the club and if it's not related to building a financial District in Hanley that's not needed or re working the smallthorne roundabouts for the millionth time then forget about it. The underpass would look great with some stoke related graffiti art depicting the history of the club but again I wouldn't bank on anything being done. Sent from my C6603 using proboards
