I'd make 1 change, give Charlie a start with Ireland on the bench. Got no problem with Ireland but I think Adam seems to give us more of a goal threat
Bego Cameron Shawcross Wilson Pieters whelan Nzonzi Odemwingie Adam Arnie Crouch

I'm slightly worried that Adam has "previous" where Spurs are concerned, and they will try to wind him up. With other players that would not bother me, with Adam it does bother me. I'd be happy to start him in home games instead of Ireland against many clubs but not against Spurs if I could avoid it.

Hmm yea good point- would make it alot more fiesty though and maybe take some of their players minds away from the actual game

On the other side of the coin, couldn't this be the ideal time for Charlie to channel all his considerable skills into making Sandro look the ponderous chump he is? Leslie needs to have a quiet word first though.

On the other hand, the sight of Adam on the pitch is likely to wind the Spurs players up. Maybe Sandro will look for retribution and they get a red card trying to hack our Charlie.
If I was Hughes I would tell Adam to whisper something to Sandro and take one for the team.

Would consider to start with assaidi on the right and odemwingie up front with crouch. Adam and ireland on bench Interesting. It is strange that Assaidi doesn't seem to be known for playing on the right despite the fact that he is a right footer. In one of his first games for us he found himself on the right and put over a great cross. Obviously we'd lose some of his goal scorning potential but with his pace he should still be able to do a job as a conventional winger on the right. Arnie is similar - he ought to look more comfortable on the right - especially as he doesn't have the shot in his right foot that Assaidi does. But he prefers the left for some reason.

So Lars, you'd drop Arnie? I'd keep the team as it is myself. Also, I'm slightly uncomfortable with the Adam at home and Ireland away argument. It's not really practical to change in this way as neither player affected will get the necessary momentum. Selection needs to be based on form and fitness. What has Ireland done to deserve missing out? By all means Adam has a role to play and this may be after the hour mark depending on what we're doing. The same applies to Assaidi.

I said nothing about dropping Arnie, Jimmy. He's still playing on the left side, with assaidi on the right and odem and crouch up top. here, let me draw it for you:
crouch odemwingie arnautovic assaidi whelan nzonzi

Don't see why we would drop Ireland tbh, I understand Adam has more chance of scoring with his shooting, but I think Ireland is a better fit overall and creates things for others more often and makes better decisions.

Think Ireland slowly is returning to his best, and even though I like Charlie I would at least stick with Ireland for this game!

I feel assaidi and walters both earned longer sub appearances tomorrow assuming they are reasonable changes to make.

Not sure about this one.
Will Spurs be motivated?
More importantly, will we be motivated?
I think it will either be a bore draw or a goal fest.
I'll go 3-2 Spurs, just because I think we are bound to lose at home eventually.

Tough match for Stoke to win. Spurs have generally beaten those teams below them in the league and only lost out to those above them. They have only once lost away this season to lower placed opposition (Norwich). But if Norwich can beat them, so can Stoke. As with most games it will be a question of who wants to win most. If MH can get Adam to swear he will behave himself and avoid 50:50s, keep his malice under control, etc. then I would go with him as he could be a distraction to Spurs game. Stoke might even get some of Spurs players booked for feigning fouls. But I wouldn't be against playing Ireland and keeping Adam in reserve if needed. Great to able to have choices! Time again for Arni and Wingie to put a show on, and about time Crouchy found the net against his previous club. I'm sure Stoke will need to score more than once to win. Spurs do have a leaky defence, so it should be achievable

I can't be bothered to look Joe but do you ever say anything else? And, how often has your prediction been correct when you've gone for unsoiled?

AS they have an outside chance of a CL place they'll have to go for the win. We tend to do better against teams that are a bit open whereas we struggle against the teams that keep it tight.
