Resign or sacked?
Either way it will be a hefty payoff.....

Sacked and maybe before the end of the week is how I perceive the rumours. His hefty pay off will cushion the blow. A working holiday in Brazil then back in time to manage Newcastle pre season.

Reigning champions slump to seventh.. Says it all. A corresponding drop in performance from last season for Stoke would have seen Hughes drag us into relegation. It always had a whiff of Wilf McGuiness about it, though.

All the papers are running with it, so they've obviously been briefed.
Feel a bit sorry for Moyes, but it's probably been inevitable for a while.

Can't believe they gave him a 6 year deal. Ridiculous pay off if it's true.

Reigning champions slump to seventh.. Says it all. Now who was 7th last season... 28 points behind the champions. Actually, if you can't make the top 4, 7th would appear to be a good place to end up as you avoid the Europa Cup. I can see Man U splashing the cash in the summer and coming back big time next season under Moyes. Can't see them throwing him out after just one season. He'll get at least two - as long as he us seen to be making progress. Fergies shadow (of taking a few years before winning a trophy) will protect him.

The media outlets reporting Giggs to be given the job on a long-term basis.
Not sure about that.

Moyes has arguably over spent and arguably has the better squad. Brendan Rodgers has done a very good job wherever he has been in all fairness. Utd went from contending for titles each season and this season have been a laughing stock at times. Hopefully he can get a good job and do what he was doing at Everton.

I thought he was probably the right appointment until about a month ago.
Since then there has been absolutely no improvement and no discernible style of play. He hasn't got a clue who is best team is.
I honestly can't imagine how anyone could manage that group of players to a poorer season than Moyes.

Over spent on Fellaini, turned Mata into an average player. Kagawa hasn't played enough. Had Zaha but reluctant to play due to personal issues.
He doesn't seem like a manager you could take seriously as a player.

Appreciate there are differences, but there are some similarities as well. What is more likely to affect Moyes's job prospects is a sustained loss of revenue - specifically a fall in season ticket sales. Maybe that is happening and what has prompted the rumours today. He wouldn't be the first to lose his job for that reason!

Can't believe they gave him a 6 year deal. Ridiculous pay off if it's true. I'd be astounded if anyone smart enough to accrue a billion dollar business empire wouldn't also be smart enough to insert performance related clauses in that 6 year contract. Finishing out of top 4 would be an obvious one.
