Agree 100%. We need to grow and evolve as a club. No more 'Little Stoke' as Pulis always wanted us to be. This great city needs a 30,000 plus stadium now . It will get full again now we have some entertainment to watch. I have bought a new season ticket for next year, as I think we are a club on the up. Bollocks to the ' it'll look shit if there's empty seats' crap. It looks bollocks now with only half the stadium built.
Come on St Peter... lets get the Brit rockin with 33, 0000!

You would think with the Coates family Being buisness people they would have seen the potential of the corner being filled months ago, non brainer

Given that we virtually never fill the Brit, why don't we knock down one stand and turn it into a distribution warehouse. Not only would this bring some much needed revenue to the club but it would also ensure that the reduced seating helped us hit our new capacity to 100%

I agree with the o/p
It's one corner,'fill it'.
Then do what you need to do to put bums on seats.

Scholes on radio Stoke this morning said there are currently no plans to extend capacity and they are not even discussing it
He said we would need to consistently sell out before it happened ( or words to that effect )

Liverpool going to 54000 then up to 60000 in phase two.
We'll reduce our capacity before we increase it!

We need to think big, that's the problem with Stoke on Trent, not just Stoke City, always thinking small.

Difference between 8th & 10th is about £10m, we should go for it as a one off cost, then set about attracting enough fans to fill it.

Doesn't scholes know why we don't quite sell out now.
One, you can't get many seats together
And two, there's probably that many been chucked out for trivial stuff.
I've had mine took of me twice since promotion and had to prove the stewards picked out the wrong person which I did. Still a pain in the arse though.

We appear to be happy to remain a small club punching above our weight.
Without increased revenue we will never be able to compete.
We have no seats for new fans, we will therefore not attract new fans.
We have the 29th biggest capacity ground in the country.
We are currently in one of the most successful periods in our history; if the time isn't right to expand now, then I don't expect us to expand ever.
Are we waiting till we qualify for the Champion's League before we expand?

The club has made it pretty clear they're more interested in selling season tickets on the short term than building the support for the long term.

agree with op, I went Cardiff...and what a fantastic stadium that is, and they are expanding, I Really think we should get our stadium to a capacity of around 35000

Should fill in the corner I agree. If they did struggle to sell out then why not give out free tickets to schools, ideally around the boarders of our catchment area where support is devided or they don't have a local team such as Uttoxeter, Stafford, Buxton and Leek for example. Try to spread our support out further to the next generation. We should be aiming to pull people in from further afield than just Stoke on Trent.

Nice to know Tony Scholes has such big plans for our club (if whats just above is true re:werringtons post -- Scholes on 'village radio at its best')
Its obvious we are locking out now around 95 -96% and like I have found with my son - others are not going because of the ticketing restrictions such a large percentage of seats taken up by season ticketing brings.
if (as stated earlier) stadium extension is not not being actively discussed right now - the lack of vision, ambition and foresight expressed by the club at this juncture is, breathaking !
Disappointed massively if this is true
I can only surmise, the guy must be a bloody ostrich

We are currently in one of the most successful periods in our history; if the time isn't right to expand now, then I don't expect us to expand ever. Are we waiting till we qualify for the Champion's League before we expand? I went on a stadium tour in about 2006. I asked about the possibility of stadium expansion if we were promoted and the tour guide said that if we were promoted to the premier league, the club would fill the scoreboard corner. If we happened to reach the europa league, we would fill the other two corners in, relocating the dressing rooms and super store. This is where it gets crazy. In the event of reaching the champions league, apparently another tier would be added around the ground and in the event of us winning the league yet another tier. Now either that was incredibly optimistic in terms of our fanbase and capabilities, or we as a club are now incredibly unambitious. My guess is a bit of both as I don't think they saw us playing in the europa league so soon after so was a bit of a silly guess at what could happen. I heard the scholes quote on radio stoke (which coincidently seemed a bit of a dig at us lot) and was pretty shocked at how out of touch he is from the fanbase and issues surrounding buying tickets on match days. Maybe if the smarmy, ignorant, complacent bastard actually listened at council meeting for once, he'd be a little bit better at doing his actual job instead of turning everybody against him.

At the next meeting the question should be asked again and the reasons and benefits for it as stated above. Ask him why if it did struggle to sell why the tickets couldn't go to schools etc. Would love hear the answer.
This thread was emailed to him a day or two ago. Then knocked back on radio.
Maybe we should try saying it would be a stupid idea and we might get the go ahead.

I wouldn't care if there was 2,000 empty seats, as long as 33,000 others were there too. 35,000 seats would be ideal.
Some of you season ticket holders may not appreciate how difficult it is to get tickets for a group of people traveling from abroad, or even two people seated together.

Its still a waste of money. Brek Shea was a waste of money. Andrew Davies was a waste of money. Fatboy Gudjohnson was a waste of money. Expanding the ground is a chance to grow the fan base. At worst it will cost less than Brek Shea.

WRONG WRONG WRONG THE CLUBS AT 90% + CAPACITY ALREADY casuals cant hardly get tickets seated together on the day 22,000 season tickets likely by the summer + 3000 away fans (usually) leaves 2-3000 tickets available on the day ONLY WHICH IS NOT ENOUGH (FFS !!!I despair at how people try to debate this - its just so bleeding obvious) Stoke City 'moving forward' or - 'how do dither whilst procrastinating' (there will never be a better time)

there have been plenty of games this season where there has been hundreds of empty seats, filling in a corner is not the answer,do your maths you numpty.

Fill it in, the ground looks dated and run down as well.
