After the job he's done this season, the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham may see him as their next manager - thoughts? It maybe too early but if there is more improvement next season then I reckon it will happen.

He would be foolish to leave until he has a few years of solid achievement at Stoke. After his hasty retreat from Fulham and the QPR debacle he does need a settled period at one club to rebuild his reputation.

Hopefully, but a Newcastle might see him as ideal sooner rather than later - would he be tempted?

We need to back him in the summer to a greater level than this summer, to really hammer home that this is the club to be at.
We already have stability at the top, which is half the battle won.

No one is wetting themselves about Hughes like they are about Pochettino or TP
Which is fine

I wouldn't have thought so.
Achievements at Stoke aren't recognised by the world at large - so Hughes's quiet revolution at the Brit will carry on next season.

Hughes has acknowledged he made a mistake leaving Fulham too soon. He wouldn't repeat that error.

I would like to think he's settled here and has no intention of leaving any time soon. But this is football. Like any of our favourite players, who we have embraced as our own, he could go at any time if the right offer came in. In our favour are: 1. he's probably working for the best owners in the league, and he will be well aware of that; 2. he lives close to his extended family - closer than any other manager; 3. he knows that he can take this club to another level and relishes the challenge, without being burdened by unrealistic expectations about trophies every year or top four, etc.; 4. he realises that he's fallen on his feet, with a solid set of players, and his backroom staff seem happy with everything too.

Oi Joe, did you get to meet Wills and Kate on their walkabout in your fair city yesterday?

He's done O.K. But I don't think it's at a level where people will be queuing up.

I genuinely believe that when he left Fulham prematurely, he learned his lesson; do not up and leave a good thing.
He should also have massive respect for Peter Coates because without that man putting his faith in him this summer, Sparky's career - in the top flight - looked to be over. He owes him/us.

Oi Joe, did you get to meet Wills and Kate on their walkabout in your fair city yesterday? Hey mate, he's down our neck of the woods in Sydney. He was at the Royal Easter show yesterday followed by a visit to Manly beach. You have to have a visa to get up over that Queensland border where Joe is!

After his hasty retreat from Fulham and the QPR debacle he does need a settled period at one club to rebuild his reputation. Agree with this. Before coming to Stoke, I don't think his managerial reputation could have gotten any worse really. His time at Man City wasn't successful, he was shown up a bit at QPR. How many pundits and fans were surprised when he landed the job here? The majority of papers had us for going down. He's been a complete success this year, but many still attribute that to Pulis' squad. He needs 2 or 3 good seasons before he can look at moving on. By that point, if Stoke continue to improve and grow, we could be a solid top 10 team (as opposed to a one season wonder) so he may consider staying long-term.

A few years of progress with us and it will be inevitable I think, don't forget while at Fulham he was strongly linked with the Chelsea job.
He has a a few more seasons to repair the reputation though, I don't think he's daft enough to jump yet and if/when he does it will be for a big job, Newcastle isn't that compared to us nowadays.

I think it would have to be a pretty big opportunity to turn his head and I don't think his reputation is sufficiently restored for one of those yet. This time next year though who knows and lets not forget that his agent is a bullshitting fantasist who could be whispering anything in his ear although he does seem to have been completely shut out from any club business.

I imagine his is reasonably satisfied with the progress he has made apart from the failure to sign the players he wanted(s). If he has another frustrating transfer window and can't persuade the players he wants to join the club (for a host of reasons - pay, fee, not in Europe/ big city, back-water club, etc.), then he might start to get frustrated and let it be known he would be interested in a post where he can get the players he wants, but there aren't many of them. Could only see him being attracted to go to a top club to fill his pockets. Stoke fans are generally OK, I can't see him wanting to go back to any club or be attracted to clubs with fans like Newcastle. (mad idiots!) My guess is he will plug away at Stoke and if nothing major turns up and he gets frustrated at Stoke he'd accept the Wales team manager's job when it comes available. (Come to think of it, same for Pulis.)

(Come to think of it, same for Pulis.) The Stoke job is miles bigger than the Wales job (which he's already done) IMO. If we have another strong season this year and, say, Everton or Spurs or someone come in he'll be off. Same as most managers. At least if that happens it'll be because we're doing well.

I guess Spurs have already found their man, I don't think Everton will change their manager, Shampton won't really be a step up, but Ncastle is the only possible club in England that could be tempting to him I think. But why go there and start all over again when things are going so smoothly here?

The only person in for him will be Coates, who was light years ahead of his PL rivals last year by signing him. :)I remember berating Coates for tolerating a manager who had obviously reached his level, and all the time he was plotting his coup. PC Loved TP, gave him a real crack at the job which he had rightly earned, but was big enough to plan ahead when he saw Tonys failure in the transfer market. The job isn't done, only begun. Hughes will get the backing he needs this summer. Then we will see what we have next season. But one thing is for sure. Coates is a Director some PL fans would cut their balls off for. If Directors could be poached, he'd have been gone years ago. HUghes will be at Stoke for as long as it takes, or until someone better comes along. This is the truth, this is the Gospel according to Chaydle.
