As Vice-chair of the Supporters Council, I have just read through this very long thread for the first time. In view of the comments about the failure of SC members to engage in debate on here, I am beginning to think that perhaps not having the time to keep up with everything which is said on this Board is a good reason not to stand again for the SC. There are many points in this thread I would like to comment on. I think some postings are fair, but some are inaccurate and some are based on misunderstandings. I am going to bed now, but if I have time tomorrow before I go to London, I will post my perspective on the issues raised. Unfortunately I was too optimistic about being able to do this today so it will have to wait until Thursday or Friday

The questions were asked re the concourse, not at one meeting, but two and we were told that these comments were being dealt with by the health and safety team. As I said, I'll bring up every point on this thread on Saturday.

Regarding the Sales staff - Stoke's catering is franchised out so the staff are not theirs. But does suggest that bringing the catering back "in house" or awarding the franchise to a more progressive company would be worth considering. That's a fair comment, but I still stand by the statement that the infrastructure (i.e queueing tapes and better, non-slip flooring) are the responsibility of the club, not the catering franchise. With regards to the staffing, it baffles me how they seem to travel in super slow motion, which belies the youthful appearance of the staff. On one match day, they were all apparently being assessed (for an NVQ in super slow motion customer service ?) by a clipboard-wielding assessor. I swear that they treat the appearance of customers, wishing to purchase food products at hslf-time, as an act of God or other unnatural phenomenon, rather than the opportunity to sharpen their customer service skillset ! Or maybe I'm just over critical and turning into Victor Meldrew ? Margaret ? Margaret ! ???? Your not being over critical in the slightest, a couple of games a go I ordered 2 hot chocolates and a coffee after bringing me the hot chocolates he asked me 4 times what else I ordered, each time I told him he turned around looked at the selection on the counter which obviously baffled him and asked me again in the end I had to describe what the coffee looked like whilst pointing at it all the while dragging his feet, travelling at a snails pace like something from the walking dead Sent from my C6603 using proboards

Twickenham has got it bang on with the concourses and food concessions, always surprises me no football ground has been designed to operate in a similar manner.

May I just take this opportunity to thank Angela and Malcolm for their utmost patience with me, and what is a thankless task ?
Unfortunately, when viewing the immense detail required for election to SC, I realised that only people with previous for these type of committee participation were qualified or welcomed by the club.
Maybe if there's a requirement for communications officer, Lakeland or Kitkatkev could stand, and put us all to shame ?
I know they'd have my full support.
To end, may I quote Albert Einstein, who once said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results ?
TS take heed !

Meetings are held before home games and living where I do, it is bad enough getting to games for a 3 pm kick off given that I have to walk a pair of dogs before we even set off. My dog walks start at 8 am as it is. And traveling down on Friday nights would mean the cost of 2 dogs going into kennels for two nights plus the guy I give a lift to would have to miss the game. So, being on the council is a total no no for me - a fact that will probably please some people, both on here and at the club!

I've only just read through all of the posts on this thread and I am amazed at some of the comments. It would be a loss to the club if Malcolm Clarke decides to step down from his role on the Supporters Council, as a result of some of the comments posted on here The group are there to take forward ideas and comments from all fans - they have no power to make major changes to the running of the club www.stokecityfc.com/fans/supporterscouncil/about.aspx is on the website explaining their role "While supporters generally tend to engage more with their Club when things aren't going particularly well, it is equally important to have this means of dialogue in settled times so that we can gauge the opinions of our fans." This is a way for all fans to have a voice if they want to - some good ideas have come from the group, other requests have not progressed but just because things cannot be changed etc then it's most unfair (in fact ungrateful) to make such negative comments in my opinion. Constructive comments are surely the way forward. The recent communication re changes to the purchase of Season tickets could have been improved, the most important thing now is to learn from that. The final supporters council meeting for this season is on Saturday so get your comments to them for discussion To end on a positive note, it would appear that Season ticket sales are going very well as are tickets for our final away game at West Brom

Supporter groups are a waste of fucking time. Not necessarily so, Merkin. If a club makes the effort to properly consult and communicate, there is no reason why a supporter group should not achieve a lot - providing that it really represents the views of its fan base. I would also say that the fans of clubs who are now actually owned by their supporters through supporters trusts (often after being saved from liquidation by those trusts) would certainly disagree with your opinion that supporter groups are a waste of time.

That link just takes you to a load of patronising wank.
The fans have turned up because Coates invested millions which has in turn being converted in to quality performances, players and Premiership football.
So my constructive comments are cut the patronising wank and ensure that we keep a good team on the pitch. That is why the attendances doubled....
...regardless of the burnt pies and 10 fucking years plus of parking and traffic that is fucking wank.
If the parking and traffic had beeen sorted then a biscuit munching, lemon tea drinking council might be worth having.
PS Don't worry about the pies...I'll eat anything.

Scholes is a jumped up prick who has managed to blag his way into a job he has no qualifications to justify him upholding, has no respect for the real people that matter at the club (i.e. the supporters) and sees no issue with treating them with disrespect and contempt at every turn. he is seemingly happy to lie and misinterpret what has been said by supporters regarding club decisions in order to deflect any kind of blame, culpability or responsibility from himself and the position he finds himself in.
St. Peter is a diehard fan of the club and the team and does not deserve people like Denise and her hangers on coming in and ruining the club he loves as much as the rest of us do by carrying out actions that are little to do with the good of the club and far more to do with their own commercial interests.
the sooner he fucks off into a corner and shrivels up like the weasly, cowardly spunkbag that he is, the better.
That is all.

I think the majority of fans are more than happy in the way the club seems to be run and the direction we are going in. They don`t get everything right, who does? But they seem to improve year on year. You could always get Moxey back I suppose.

I'm sure TS must be doing alright in his Job on the whole but we may aswell do away with the SC as he obviously doesn't give a blind bit of notice to supporter views or problems that don't suit him, Or the council are too afraid to push him on things.
As 1 of the supporters who was worried about not passing a credit check I was seriously worried that I wouldn't be able to renew, and the minutes read that he doesn't give a shit as somebody else would have brought it anyway so not his problem.
It was probably too late in the day to change anything but a simple "Sorry we should have given notice, Any major changes in future will be well in advance" would have at least shown he's listening. It doesn't even sound like he could be arsed to humour us.
Then there's OS predicament, Shoddy customer service and doesn't sound like he's had much assistance from the Council either.
Like it or not, the Oatcake is a very very busy and popular social media platform for a lot of Stokies. This place is an ideal go between for the Council & the club to engage fans. Not private emails so nobody else is aware of problems that may effect them 1 day (Aside from really private matters).
That marketing phone call a month or 2 back, If there's 1 thing you could change, I said improve the concourse, it's a shambles trying to get food or drink, The person at the other end said you're not the 1st and probably won't be the last to say this. But I fully expect there to be no changes come next season. (My idea would be to put half a dozen vending machines in with just 1 drink available in them, £4 a pop save hassle with change running out.)

I don't really blame the council, they can only do what they can do, and admittedly those are the first ever minutes I have seen, however if those are to be taken as a general consensus as to what happens at these meetings, then it does seem that TS is not overly flexible when it comes to accommodating and subsequently incorporating supporters ideas.

Do you really believe that Stoke City, led by Scholes, really give a toss about supporters? The level of contempt they have and the lip service they pay to the SC is breath-taking. We're doing well on the pitch, off it we're a shambles.
Name me one thing they have got right for supporters OFF the pitch?

Does Coates employ these blokes to take the flack on his behalf making him immune from criticism ?? We've seem it before with Moxey and again here where supporters input is ignored. Are they just following orders or acting on their own??

There will be audible groans of disappointment from within the Supporters Council inner sanctum, Merk when they realise that you are unlikely to fulfil their hope that you would stand as the representative of "slightly overweight supporters who sit on Row 28 of Block 29, Seddon Stand with a preference for Nike trainers and grey waterproof jackets"! Thats no way to Talk about me I've always admired the completely irrelevant "special roles" that was originally applied in the good old days of the Fans Forum and was delighted to see the nonsensical representation descriptions adopted by the Supporters Council. I always recall the original meeting that was held with supporters to set up the Fans Forum held in the Waddo Suit. The then chair dismissed the idea of an Oatcake representation (the idea had nothing to do with us by the way) as the Oatcake apparently is not representative of Stoke supporters but it transpired that a group representing the people who catch a number 23A bus from Knypersley was a genuine section of the support requiring a legitimate voice to present its views on the forum. Im sure he was right. Mr Scholes obviously shares a similar view.

I believe Mr Scholes works on the principal that democracy tends to be less affective. This is because getting a large number of people to agree on something and move forward is often very difficult. Whereas if you do as I say life becomes so much more easier !
