It looks like they're imploding. They've suspended Lambert's two assistants and one of their replacements has come straight out of the 'bomb squad' of players not allowed to train with the first team until they leave. I've tried looking on the Villa board to see if there are any clues, but their thread on it has just devolved into turning footballer's names into train stations (John Crewe etc).

ISN'T IT WEIRD that for 25 years we seem to have lurched from one crisis to another with 'snippets' of success and now we found ourselves cruising to the 'Pride of the Midlands' title for the very first time. What's even more exciting is that this is just the start , as next season looks even more promising under Mark Hughes. Enjoy it while it lasts as it may be another 100 years before it happens again.

Some weird shit happening. BBC reporting it was Lambert who axed them or at least asked for them to be axed. Who needs enemies and all that. Surely the throes of a dead man walking.

I've had a look on their forum. The initial suggestions appear to be bullying from the two coaches with players standing up to it.

Well I hope the changes have a positive effect for at least the next game. We need Villa to beat Southampton on Saturday!

Lambert will be sacked before Christmas.
Whatever he is trying to implement at Villa clearly isn't or hasn't worked.

Most bookies are offering 16/1 on Villa to go down at the moment, it might be worth sticking a few quid on it I think. They've lost their last four matches in the league and they still need a couple more points from somewhere to ensure survival. They haven't got the best of run ins either, their last two games are away at Spurs and Man City.

Lambert will be sacked before Christmas. Whatever he is trying to implement at Villa clearly isn't or hasn't worked. From what i can tell Lambert is implementing exactly what his chairman has told him to implement. Keep Villa in the PL while slashing the wage bill and overall age of the squad. restricting himself to making a maximum of 1 biggish money signing a season complemented by a serious of hopeful 500k to 1.5 million punts, in the hope a few of them come off.

You mean just like our board seem to be doing? a slightly more extreme version i think, in that i imagine their wage bill was much larger at the point Lerner decided to stop throwing money at it. Their signings don't seem to be at all targetted, all feels a little bit pin the tail on the donkey.

a legal investigation
"You will need to appreciate that because of a legal investigation I cannot comment on it," said Lambert.
