Just finished the first half. Ngoy made some really impressive moves, nice goal and showed some nice trickery but seemed to disappear for stretches. Was impressed with Hales and Pringle. A kid from RSL, Sauceda?? was pretty impressive from the other side.

Stoke went 2-1 up in the last minute before Real Salt Lake went straight back up the other end and equalised.
Game goes to penalties to determine who gets an extra point.

"Stolen at the death"
Charles Westonhales (sp?) in the last minute. Against the run of play - we were dominated in the second half.

Bollocks.
3rd minute of stoppage time the Yanks equalised.
"It's a shoot out".

Real Salt Lake win on penalties, before celebrating Arsenal style as if they've won the entire tournament

To be fair, RSL appeared to be the much better team for most of the match. Controlled possession. Westonhales seemed to be pretty strong but seemed to be getting double and triple teamed at all times. Most of the other field players seemed to be outclassed which was shocking. Ngoy substituted in the 43rd minute, Stoke only had 12 players available...

One thing needs highlighting was that our team was an under 17 side whereas the US teams were under 18 sides, as it was an under 18 tournament. I suppose the USA sides will have included some under 17 players but, in general, our players will be younger than their US counterparts. The age difference did show in the second half against RSL.

Bloody hell, they seemed slightly happy.
How does this tournament work?
I assume it is some type of group stage format, if so can we still go through?

Ngoy will have only played a half because he hasn't been playing all season.

There is another round of group games so we are still in with a chance of the semi final but I suppose Real Salt Lake are now favourites in our group.

What's with the extra point for winning the shoot out. The yanks don't like draws do they, they have to have a winner and a loser

Blame Pulis. He hated kids. Don't think he hated them, don't think he had any feelings towards them whatsoever, he didn't know who half of them were.

I've never seen technical areas so far away from the half way line? They're nearly at the penalty area!

Barring the first five minutes we've done ok. They're the better team but we've coped with them well so far. They're all massive too.

You do have to wonder why we can't do this for some of our youth matches.
