While Storey was the obvious psycho or pantomime villain Arsenal had more than able assassins available to them at the time in the shape of Simpson, Nelson and Rice. Mclintock would have got an honourable mention too but he was just too slow.
Mind you they also entertained us with comedy centre halves in that period in the shapes of Messrs Ure, O'Neill and that Willie Scottish youth who scored a pearler of an own goal into the Stoke End on one occasion

Remember it well. It was a pretty foggy day and I think the sneaky bastard actually thought he could get away with it.
That Arsenal team were a poor man's Leeds in the dirty tricks and thug ratings although in fairness to their manager I'm pretty sure that incident pretty well ended Storey with them.
Revie on the other hand would have handed out a pay rise.

In those days most teams had at least one hard man in their ranks. Tommy Smith,Nobby Stiles,Norman Hunter, Ron Harris and even Stoke with Eddie Clamp and Maurice Setters.

I'm not defending Storey, I suppose though if you're going to commit a foul, it's better to be sneaky and snidey, rather than head butt a player in front of the referee.

Incidentally, I have no evidence to support this, but I always had a feeling that Quiz Ball was the origin of the phrase "Route One", ie the more direct slap bang wallop approach to the game. I doubt anyone who was at Hillsborough for that first semi final in 1971 - the game that defined the phrase "defeat (as it ultimately was) snatched from the jaws of victory" does not come out in a cold sweat and start palpitating - before reaching for a bottle of Scotch and the phone number of their psychiatrist - at the very mention of Storey's name.

No, I do not (nor have I ever) lived in N5. If you lot actually knew anything about your team, you would know that Hall was just on the point of signing as a professional with a future in the club's development side the following season.
He was released by the club in May, just about a month before he appeared in court.
And yes, it (Hall) happened in 2012, and you lot are bringing up remarks about a player that left Arsenal in 1977!!!
And somebody had a go at me for bringing up something that happened two years ago, and there is you lot, slagging off a player that last played football thirty seven years ago...Get a life, the lot of you.

Oi thick twat, before you start taking the moral high ground over anyone, have a look at this. Nice to see your vile 'fans' abroad adopting your civility. Cunts to a man. Arsenal ScumH

Can anyone remember Peter Storey running the width of the Victoria to kick John Mahoney in the spine while Mahoney was on the deck injured . Perhas this should be brought up every few days by the press... Picture and video evidence as well as doctors reports or it didn't happen. Gouranga.

Didn't Osama Bin Laden support Arsenal? Yes, and Piers Morgan, Pol Pot, Hitler, King Herod who killed all the babies in the Bible, and most horrifically of all Alan Davies.
