Despite that cheat Marriner trying this best to ruin it I thought today's game was a cracker. Everton are a good side and today we were as good.
Barkley is going to be a great player.

Agree, especially about Barkley.
It's a sad indictment on how backwards our national game is here. Any other top country would have him in their first XI by now, instead of fiddling around whilst Rome burns like we seem to be doing.
He needs to go to Brazil and start.

Yep, they're the team to beat right now and we matched them right to the end. I thought it was just a good game of football with challenges flying in and both teams going for it.

Agree with all that. Really enjoyed the match. I thought we showed signs of the 'old' and the 'new' starting to fuse together to produce something quite entertaining.

There was some good young English talent on display too which was good to see. I thought a certain #17 was the best Englishman on that pitch though by a mile.

Couldn't help thinking today was like a cup game, a lot of meaty challenges and players throwing everything at it

Superb game to watch at times and that's why I still think " thank fuck Pulis has gone, otherwise the ball would be out of play or in the air". Fair result, Everton are much better under Martinez.

Yeah.
Really good spectacle today.
And we played a full part against a properly good team.
Encouraging.
Hard to say Everton didn't deserve a point, but it was cruel to see it wrestled from us by Pennant's complete idiocy.

Cracking match against a team flying high. Always feels like a loss when a team equalises late on against you. If I'm being honest Everton were well worthy of there point

In the main Everton are a team we can aspire to be like. Play some good stuff and also manage to mix it as well. The only thing that lets them down is they have players like pienaar who like to throw themselves down once they get anywhere near the box.
But I agree I enjoyed today's game too.

Just lacked someone to put their foot on the ball at the end and take the pace and sting out the game. Too much a cup tie at the end. We were clearing it and it was coming straight back

Good game just gutted we did not win it. That Barkley is some player.
Great to watch Everton are. We bloody rode our luck though at times but that happens against quality.

Great entertainment for both halves. Yeah, we have a bit of controversy but for the most part I thought Marriner let the game flow, something we're simply not used to at Stoke....now if we can get consistent refereeing sorted, this could be a great sport to watch in the future

WHY / HOW exactly was Marriner a "cheat" ? He reffed a competitive game in very hard conditions and gave a penalty that any ref (and most in the stand ) would have given where was the "cheating" ? We're all pissed off at throwing away 2 points but calling the ref a cheat is just sour grapes

I don't think anyone is arguing about the penalty, but Mariner was very quick to blow up for small misdemeanours by Stoke - and to wave his yellow card in the direction of our players - but most reluctant to treat Everton the same way.

I thought the ref did well today...yeah he made a few errors, they all do,but overall he a good game in a very competive match.
Overall the result was fair...gutted to concede a penalty so late on though...but the top teams grind out results just like Everton did today.

Really proud of Stoke today.
Under TP they didn't bother with the middle 3rd of the pitch. This season each week they are getting better and better in the middle third both with the ball and pressing the opposition when without the ball.
Assiadi is a growing threat, but there is some way to go yet before Stoke become consistent scorers.
Stoke are really making progress and if they keep improving will be a top half team. I'm sure they get rise above AV and Hull.

the ref pissed me off a few times, did favour them on a few occasions but didn't make any game changing decisions, pennant was a fuckin liability soon as he came on, Mr Hughes please get rid, pissed off at final result but would have settled for a draw before, they are a good side.

He's what we needed I just fear now that we've fixed him Liverpool will swoop in and gain from our development or swindle us arry style and want an absurd fee for a permanent.

I hope when we do strengthen that we go to passing out more from the back again. Kept giving it away at the end yesterday inviting pressure with ryan having licence to launch 90% of his touches again.
Liked it when he ran forward with the ball into their half a couple of times though.

Besides the penalty, Mariner did make a game changing decision. He failed to give a foul against Baines when he took Pennant down from behind and which left Pennant hobbling for a while after. Pennant was furious that Mariner let it go, and every one of his actions after that came from him losing his rag about it.
But apart from the idiotic actions by Pennant, I did enjoy the game. We're beginning to see what Hughes is trying to do... be stronger in the middle of the park and play football. Everton were the better side I thought, but at times we played some good football.
OS.
