Hope he doesn't become the new rikki dadasson big reputation but doesn't work out here, but not much of a risk on a free transfer

I think crouch will be shipped out in the summer so we can afford to carry a couple of oaps and he certainly has/had the right pedigree.

So if he does come when would he sign and play for us? This season? If so there is a possibility that he signs plays a few games then SCFC could be in the Championshio. There goes his Premiership dream? If not this season, why would he make a decision before our Premiership place is confirmed for another season. Surely this would be an important part of any pre contract signing.

Hope he doesn't become the new rikki dadasson big reputation but doesn't work out here, but not much of a risk on a free transfer I wonder how much a free transfer costs these days. There might be no transfer fee but there will be a fairly sizeable signing on fee because he is available for "free".

True, but, given his age, we'd probably not pay him more than £1million or so as a signing on fee. Assuming his wages are within our wage limit we should still be getting a very good player for minimal up front cost. Two oldies, like him and Odemwingie, plus two younger strikers (Agudelo and AN Other) and we'd have most bases covered for not a lot of upfront cost.

Crouch will be gone. Leaves Odemwingie and Walters.
I can see (hope) Walters leaving too.
Like I said, I can see an all soon to be ex-Bundesliga front 4 if we stay up. With Odemwingie and Agudelo options from the bench.

But he is available on a free (I think still) but think he'll get better offers than us.

I thought we had stopped all this bringing in veterans looking for one last fat pay cheque. Sure, he is a fantastic player who would add something different to our attacking options but we would (almost certainly) be signing him instead of a quality youngster. I would rather us look at Ings or Rhodes from the Championship, both have proven scoring records at all levels they have played and their wages would not be a patch on Olic's

Yes, but we need a real poacher and, as superb a player has Olic is/has been, i do not think he would be the player to grab 10-15 goals a season for us.

Some player and would love to see a season out of him. Hopefully we will jettison one or two of our current strikers.

Crouch needs to go at the end of the season he just can't play to our style. Have to disagree on that one. Brilliant today, a constant threat. I think he's more suited now than he ever has been. The good thing about him is, because he has always lacked pace, the older he gets, the less it will affect his game. Clever, a team player, and can finish, when given the chance.

I just think we need speed, strength and goals and don't really think he has any. I like Crouchy I just we need someone different.

I agree, but I wouldn't get rid of him for the above reasons.
He links up the play and plays such a vital role in understanding everybody else's game.
Under Pulis, he had the dubious honour of undoing one of our main threats. Playing through the wings with pace, on the break. He slowed the game down and blunted one of the main attributes we excelled at.
Now, we play a more patient game on the whole, and suits the kind of game we now play.
He's come up with the some key goals, and assisted on a few as well. Silly to get rid of such a skilled player, considering the fee we would fetch for him.

I think Crouchy will be here for at least another season. He's been excellent overall for me. Clever, hardworking and a threat from set pieces and crosses. I get the feeling Hughes sees him as pretty important. I would guess the priority is a genuine goalscorer with pace to play off Crouch.

He can play BOTH up front and out wide (he's better out wide but he would probably play through the middle in a free role at times like we did with Arnie when he first signed) but its his age thats putting me off more than anything, i thought we had stopped all this signing up 'Golden-Oldies' business.

I think he'd be a winger for us mainly tbh. And I think a mix is nice and ideally he would be younger but I think we will sign younger players anyway. The balance is getting there imo.

Fair comment, but every time we get linked with players over 30, i keep having flashbacks to Gudjohnsen, Owen and Woodgate.

Fair comment, but every time we get linked with players over 30, i keep having flashbacks to Gudjohnsen, Owen and Woodgate. If TP was in charge I'd be bothered. But Olic is the sort of player that fits what Hughes wants and suits that style. Owen and Gudjohnsen never were and Woodgate just wasn't needed.

He's a player I've liked for years. If he is still fit and hungry enough, our fans will love him.
