I don't think so no. Man United were shit and didn't boss anything really. Glenn was ok, nothing more, nothing more less. So still on the hull form then..? Or poor setup? Trying to get a better picture of the game. We were just shit in the final third. We should have scored through Walters but other than that they were just too slow. Pieters needs to get forward more and Ireland tonight was shocking. We just weren't very good. But nor were they. It was a dreadful game of football.

Palacios is no good at all - by lenghts the worst buy of the Pulis era. We need a new midfielder, but of the two give me Whelan any day!

When is pennant going to get his chance, we keep perciveiring with assaidiwho apart from the goal against Chelsea is bloody awful and an excuse for a winger, jp won us the game at west sham and has hardly been seen since.

I agree with everything Bayern's said. For me Ireland was our worst player by some distance and Whelan and Palacios were both ok. Pieters' delivery is good but he doesn't get forward anywhere near enough. Is there an argument for playing him at CB if Ryan's out and Muniesa left back?

Without being a world beater, Palacios did well. Very tidy, hardly wasted a ball. Glenda on the other hand, was his usual self. Wasted ball after ball, chased shadows, tackled poorly, got passed around like in the pre-game drills, and the less said about his ability to hit a ball, the better. I'm convinced that there are better middling-Championship midfielders who would offer more than Whelan, and there are players in the PSDL that strike a ball better.

I've developed into a WHW :-)

He rarely gives the ball away and plugs the gaps well. That's his job.

It's an area we need to strengthen in.

Very pleased with another good league performance from Glenn today, his Christmas present from Geoff Cameron of fizzy lifting drinks is very well deserved.
That only makes sense if you caught Radio Stoke pre-match by the way.

well well how long have i been saying this...when has whelan ever been wanted by spurs ect? big fat zero my friends.. glens way out of his comfort zone. Please plaster this in ten foot high letters on the outside of the entrance to the Brit. I have a feeling Glenn will enjoy ramming such utter shit back down your throat. Just as he has since he was written off before we kicked a ball in the Prem. Limited in ability maybe, more dedicated and determined than most of those he plays against, absolutely. Yet again he's come back to prove his value having been written off. Keep doing it Glenn.

If the likes of Arnotavic and N'Zonzi showed half of Whelan's commitment and determination we would have a top 6 side.

He was the best player on the pitch for me today. Does more talking and organising than any other player and was the only player to have a word with Eric after his balls up. Considering he's now in his 7th season at Stoke, and he only cost us £500,000, I really don't know how people can knock him.

As odd as it sounds, along with the iconic Shawcross, Glenn isn't far off being the last of the promotion brigade. I love the fact that he's limited ability wise because that makes his determination and sheer refusal to believe all the shite said about him all the more impressive. Think of all those spells out of the side when others were saying fuck him off. Championship at best. We can do better. Imagine him slogging his guts out in training trying desperately to prove to Pulis / Hughes that he deserves a place. Fucking brilliant. There's enough greed and too little guts in the game already to fuck someone like Glenn off. He's as close to what we are as we have. Celebrate him instead of belittling him. If I'd ever been lucky enough to play for Stoke I hope I would have done so in the way he has.

Glenn Whelan. Signed for a mere 500k. He was playing when we got promotion. He was playing when we stayed up. He was playing when we made the FA Cup final. And he's still playing, trying his best with what he's got.
Yet some Stoke fans "hate" him and think he's a "twat".

I can't remember the last shot Whelan had on target. N'zonzi and Palacios in midfield for me on Saturday And just how many shots have N'Zonzi & Palacios had on target this season?

It never ceases to amaze me that some people will go weak at the knees over a fancy little trick or two produced by the likes of Arnie but have a complete blind spot to the work that the Whelans and Walters of this world produce. Is it such a hard concept to get your head around that you need both in a side if you are going to be remotely succesful. Whelan like many others has good days and bad days but compared to Palacios his contribution has been, and continues to be, immense. But hey lets just get rid of him on the whiff of a promise that a consistent under-performer might get his act together !!
