Jesus wept ... US television rights: In the same week that the EPL announced a 70% increase in their television rights via SKY and BT, FIFA quietly announced that the rights for the 2026 World Cup had been awarded to FOX in the US, without a competitive process, and at an increase of only 10% over the 2018 and 2022 rights. That is regardless of where the 2026 World Cup is held (many are tipping the USA although it is also just as likely to be Europe). Valcke has admitted that this cosy little deal happened because the decision to move the 2022 tournament means that FOX USA has to juggle its coverage of both the World Cup and the domestic behemoth gridiron season. “We have done what we had to do in order to protect FIFA and the organisation of the World Cup,” Valcke told the media in Doha on Wednesday. In other words, FIFA forfeited bucket loads of money to appease FOX and to avoid a law suit in the USA that could lead to all sorts of discovery over finances, and is one of the last places on earth where FIFA and its executives would want to appear in Court.

Organisations like FIFA, individuals like Bernie Ecclestone, corporates like Apple and families like the Windsors all go to confirm one thing. If you have the money, you can operate outside the law. It's a very sad and also dangerous state of affairs that nobody can do anything about.
Everyone knows that there is a problem with:
FIFA Apple Starbucks Bernie Ecclestone HSBC FOX SONY etc etc etc
But why is nothing being done? Why is that? Who is representing decency and values? Nobody that's who. Who can you vote for to change things? Nobody.
The problems are there but nobody has the stomach or the desire to put things right. If we can't fix FIFA - the organisation that looks after a game what chance do we stand with the rest of them?
I want to see something done about this lot.

This one should have been ours. It's a totally outrageous fact that some English fans will not be given the opportunity to see a single FIFA WC in their own back yard, just once in their lifetimes. How is that possible? We have the best stadia, the best league, the best infrastructure and the best fans. Wembley is the spiritual home of the game, the finest stadium in the world. We gave the world the game and we even won the fucking war twice BUT we won't buy a World Cup and we never will. Somebody tell me how this can possibly be seen as anything other than a crime. All this on Blatter's watch. England out NOW!

Of the big football countries only Germany and France have hosted it recently. Next time it comes to Europe all the big guns will bid. But it will probably go to Albania.

Given the poor job we made of Euro96 - half empty stadiums despite overwhelming demand - I'm quite happy for the FA to be kept away from hosting a World Cup.

FIFA should pick Iceland to host the World Cup, it will be too cold to hold it in the winter, so they could play it around June/July.

The England team has been steadily deteriorating while FIFA have rapidly become more corrupt. Enough is enough, it's time to leave. After all, we didn't need FIFA when we started and we don't need them now. If TWATTER was to put a ban on players playing in England, what do you think would happen? Would all the mercenaries leave our shores? This link from the Beeb (sort of) has a few startling results World Cup hosts & voting etc

FIFA talk about role models - what about corporate governance? kids see that as well. The premier league should give clubs the freedom to make the winter release of EPL players non-optional - write it into the player contracts now. That wouldn't leave FIFA with much of a World Cup. We pay the players that make the World Cup what it is. FIFA may be able to boss the Bundesliga and Serie-A but The Prem is a very big fish - bigger than FIFA if it digs its heels in.

Withdrawing alone would make English football an international joke. The whole FIFA "thing" has become stale. It's an organisation that breeds contempt, corruption and stupidity. The F.A. Wrote the rules once, they can do so again.. FIFA needs to be dismantled and the world governing body needs to be reformed on a more open platform. Would our league and non league systems grind to a halt if we left a visibly corrupt organisation? The answer is most definitely NO. A World Cup in a country that had no stadiums and a climate so hot that it would kill players. The Russian F.A. destroying computers because it needed to protect itself from accusations. No disrespect to San Marino (they scored against us) or Gibralter, but these teams should not be playing against the likes of Germany, Spain or Luxembourg? The whole process has been designed to procur votes to keep certain people in very financially rewarding jobs. A stance needs to be made and if withdrawing was to make the English F.A. a laughing stock, so what, I think that Is already the case. BUT by just standing by and letting this farce that F.I.F.A. has become just carry on, then we become lesser people. It is time to start again, rebuild, reorganise, rebrand. This is a sport after all, it does not need a despot in power and while it does, then we should not be part of it.

It only needs England, Spain and Germany to work. Couldn't the Premier League just refuse to release it's players? I'm sure at the last World Cup we supplied about 35% of the players, that'd be a killer blow... And it's not like the players would stay away from signing for our clubs 'cos we can offer them the most money with our TV deals. Another point which I've got to repeat as I'm sure no-one answered me last time, but what happens if Israel qualify? Unless things have changed (Or I've just always believed wrongly) don't Qatar refuse to acknowledge Israel as a country & refuse to let anyone with an Israeli passport into the country? And one final point, all this messing around with the leagues of Europe & making them all start/finish earlier/later, wont this mean as countries like Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey etc... Will be playing games in their summers, which whilst not quite hitting Qatari highs will still be high 30c's?
