We got very lucky the day we signed Rory.
The perfect bloke to quietly set about getting us promoted and then defying the odds to stay up.
His experience, class and character were IMO as important as Ric's skills and goals, Ryan's defending and Faye's leadership in the first two Prem seasons.
Teams underestimated him constantly and I lost count of the times he bossed allegedly superior midfielders.
Top fucking class.

There wasn't a better Stoke player in the second half of that promotion season. Really came into his own as a cool head to help us over the line.

Rory played a huge part in our success and it amazes me as to how little respect as a player he got outside of Stoke.
So much more to him than a throw and a top, top bloke.

I don't actually have anything left to say about Delap. Every superlative has already been used and there are plenty of posts here already that are a far more fitting tribute than anything I could churn out.
I'm just very, very glad that we got to see him here.

Everything's been said above. Legend of our club and all-round good guy, GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. Cheers Rory Lad, thanks for the memories.

It is also very apt, but something that often falls below the radar, that Rory was actually our captain on the day that we got promotion against Leicester City.

I'd love to still have him in our midfield like Ric he's one of those players you wish you can have forever.
One of the best midfielders we've ever had.

Definitely worthy of a "Hero" article in the Oatcake. Thanks.

Not just a model pro but a genuinely decent bloke as well on the couple of occasions I have spoken to him.
