Or because Assaidi did a full pre-season at Liverpool whereas Brek is just recovering from an injury? Damn, give the guy a chance! I'll accept his injury is going to affect his sharpness, it doesn't though explain why he looks way out of his depth. Really don't think he can be judged fairly until he is fit and has a run of games.

It sounds like Assaidi made a good case for a start on the left wing v Man City. In these games, players like him need to shine. No mention of Brek involved in the play in that report. He needs to stand out too! Hopefully 90 minutes will have helped him in recovering from injury, at the very least. 1-0 to Assaidi though in the battle to succeed Ethers on the left.

"The watching manager Mark Hughes.." What's that all about then?? Surely he should be taking care of "front of house", not bothering with "the kiddies"......good grief, Nige!

Good interviews with Shea and Hughes on SCFC player with Hughes saying we missed out on 2 we were chasing and Shea saying he's 2 weeks at least from fitness after his injury.

Zigger was at Claytonwood, he took his own chair and watched the match from the opposite side of the ground to the new stands. Good game, very different football to last season.

Does anyone know what positions our 3 over-age players played in against the Baggies - and, for that matter, whether we played a 433 or a 442?
# Did Shea play on the left (conventional winger) or on the right (as a wide striker able to cut in)?
# Did our Moroccan maestro play on the right (conventional winger) or the left (as a striker so he could cut in)?
# Did Ness play in central midfield or at left back?

Ness was subbed after 60 minutes according to the official site, you would think someone would have noticed.

I want to know the first two as well. I can't see why Ness would play at left back though. The only eejit who thought he was a left back and drilled it into Stoke fans heads was TP. And that's because he's too feeble to play in midfield for TP. He's a central midfielder and I'm guessing with what was picked that's where he played. And if it was a 4-3-3 with the personel we had out I'd imagine Shea would have played the Adam role with Alabi on the right and Assaidi on the left. But again, that's just an educated guess.

Cheers Gaz! Looks like it was Shea on the right and Assaidi on the left then from that. And if Rudge was there we might see a player or two at Shrewsbury on loan as he's working a bit for them now. Who played at number 8, was it ness, if so he had a blinder, the lad from everton has got an eye for goal as well It was Ness.
