I've seen plenty of players coming back from injury who, despite losing a yard of pace, still retain some positional sense and a reading of the game.
I've seen none of this Brek, yet.
I hope he comes good but I'm not sure that he will...

Think the most realistic summary of him will come at the end of the season.

Heard a great description of him today - headless chicken and 3 passes behind the game, hopefully he improves fast

He should not be unfit, he's been playing for his country recently. He is probably not good enough!

how many minutes has he actually played at full fitness for us? Full fitness? perhaps 36 minutes vs. Philadelphia Union reserves{friendly}; he started the move from which Kightly scored, scored one himself... then frustratingly got scythed and injured. The jury is still out {six months on from his signing}.

Before I start I didn't go last night, so I can't judge whether Shea was any good or not. If he's not looking to get stuck in, his time in England won't come to much. But he was playing his first competitive match of the season after injury, in a side that can't realistically be described as near a starting eleven. Perhaps he'd look a bit better coming on as sub in a league game? Palacios, Shea, Muniesa would probably all look better in fact, individually dropping into the first team. Not all at once, it's gonna look nervy like that.
Give him time dudes, he may well prove to be a dud still but he's hardly had a crack of the whip yet. Might just need some time to get over the injury and toughen up to the game.
He's gotta go and play for the USA though. If he gets a call up, he should go and represent and that's that. I'd be disappointed for him if he wasn't called up actually, bloody hell, I take more interest in how Ireland and the USA get on than I do England, I'd rather look out for the Stoke lads over that shower of shite.
He might have looked wank, but that doesn't necessarily mean he IS wank end of.

Fuck off you cock. Mickey mouse country? One of those two matches is against Mex. The other against CR. You'll be busy with Moldova. Talk about Mickey Mouse. And why couldn't you beat this Mickey Mouse country in the WC? Just another Englander living on past results frumpy .... dont take it personally, he obviously thinks England are still world beaters USA is a World Class team with all it's new Germans and the Ice Warrior. Can't expect non American's and non-Bundesliga fans to know about the new USA look. USA can start 11 EPL/Bundesliga/Dutch/Seria A players caliber players. Not saying USA is unstoppable, but it can now field 11 World Class players

Not trying to be a Shea basher, but I have always thought it's obvious he can't dribble and lacks speed to make things happen on the wing. He is not the player he was billed as, but he does have that devil inspired left foot. Only way he can develop into a EPL player is to move central and become a scoring threat. Watched him quite a bit, and it's a waste for him on the wing, his crosses are nice, but I would rather see his 6'3 frame in front of goal.

Wow - Pulis has a lot to answer for - looks like more than 50% on here have forgotten that you have to score goals to win football games. There's an awful lot of bunk spouted about players don't do this and they don't do that. Not everyone has to do everything. John Ritchie didn't do much of anything - except score bagfuls. Shea can and will score - if the numpties on here don't make him wish he was somewhere else. His fucking haircut bothers people!!!!!!!!! Jesus fucking christ.

If a players soccer skills bless them with $1 million a year, that player is a World Class player in my book. (Of course exceptions, but watch a MLS game then a EPL/Bundesliga game and you see the difference) If you are a solid starter in the EPL/Bundesliga you are most likley a millionaire soccer player with a World Class skills set. I see this a big deal because sometimes the USA will field players that make League 1 salaries and play like academy players. Fabian Johnson for example might not be a World Class player, but he can look like one when compared to his MLS counterparts.

I guess that until he gets a run of games we won't get to see how good he is or isn't. If he doesn't get that run of games then, for whatever the reason, the management cannot believe he's good enough.

I only bring up salary because the USA has played players that make $32,000. I'm not saying a player is better then another cuz 1 players makes $5 million and the other makes $8 million. I'm just saying if a soccer player isn't making $1million he propably is not a elite player, or needs a new agent. ($600,000 is more likely the salary that makes you a legit pro when you considered how global the sport is).

He didn't really look like he was in he game. If I were Hughes, I would Loan him out sharpish to league 1 or 2 see if he can get some games and toughen up to the English game. I think he will come good.

He'll be back in America by the end of the next window.

A world class player is a player that would walk into or compete for a place in any national side. A lot of players can do a job in a top league team and get paid over $1 million but that doesn't make em world class.

Were you there? He was worse than woeful. Not the first clue. Yeah, the problem for you is plenty at the match said he looked good. Come on here, he was clueless and has no chance. You surprised I think the answer is probably somewhere in the middle? Your opinion isn't any more valid than others at the match. No, he truly was terrible. As I said earlier though, I personally will not judge him on that performance as he was returning from an injury.

But money far from irrelevant. Money does not make a player better, but money is nearly always the most important thing. That's why Dempsey is in Seattle and the pretty much the same teams with the highest payroll always win the Champs League. And when a player does not care about money, that's most likely because he has banked a couple $ million. I'm not saying spending money leads directly to winning, but money talks. Glad we are having a real conversation and not calling each other names.

Don't try to reason or use logic with a fanboy. If you didn't Shea scored for Stoke in the preseason vs Phila Union reserve players. Add that goal with Shea's 2 super-sub goals in the Gold Cup vs Central American dead legged domestic players and Shea fan boys think he is on track for a Man U transfer. That being said, Shea needs to get healthy, I don't think he's been fully fit since early 2011. A loan to the Championship could do wonders for Shea's game rust.
