Has anyone had any issues with hacking? I believe that Runbritainrankings has suffered a hack leading to members receiving those wonderful dodgy emails?

Has anyone had any issues with hacking? I believe that Runbritainrankings has suffered a hack leading to members receiving those wonderful dodgy emails? Nothing here It happened last year sometime. They got hold of email addresses and passwords. I've had several emails quoting the password and telling me I've been hacked. I unfortunately used that password with two suppliers therefore I couldn't be certain which one had been hacked however a friend has now confirmed the same problem with Runbritainrankings.

3rd place at Gnosall 10k today. The 10k was a 7.3 miles long muddy flooded trail run! Great Thunder Run practice. Well done, you also had the idea of turning up at a race where there was no one fast doing it I did Marchington 10k and came 3rd also, seems all the faster ones were at Stone today.

On a separate note I got to ask Stan about the old Pudding race route and the new one. He said apart from 3 years somewhere in the middle where they kept the route but changed the direction it's exactly the same route for the record and last year's attempt. That's the definitive answer as he's been there for every race. You are of cause aware that runners are crap nowadays when compared to the heady days of the past

Stan found my message I sent him abit ago and put the record straight, yeah seen Daniel Cliffe run before proper rapid, shame could have got Brecker from Soke ac to run against him, think he'd have beaten him

The ladies team won, nice to see a mix of ladies from Stone, Trentham , Newcastle AC and Stoke AC represented

Just back from Yorkshire after the brilliant Pennine Barrier Ultra yesterday. If you ever want to try your hand (legs?) at one of these I can highly recommend it. Basically its the Yorkshire 3 peaks with another 26 miles chucked in for good measure (for the 50). The views - wow!

Well done mate, weirdo 😉

Just started running a week ago (on a treadmill).
I've done a few 5ks so far, and all have come in at the 30 minute mark (just a few seconds over everytime).
Is that a decent standard for a beginner?
I know 6 miles an hour isn't a great pace, but I haven't done any distance running for about 5 years.
I'm in reasonable shape from doing HIIT workouts for the past 18 months, but I'm adding distance running to my regime now.

Think more about time spent on your feet running rather than how fast you're going, or how fast you can do 5k. Make running a habit and catch the disease like a lot of us here have. Your 5k time will improve without even trying. Start doing Parkrun every now and again and you'll find that you set a new pb most times that you go for quite a few months, but don't make that the be all and end all. Just try to enjoy your running.

I've got 2 young kids and as I've gotten in to my mid 30s, I've realised the importance of exercising, otherwise the pounds quickly pile on. I'm not particularly interested in building up to 10k or Marathon etc. Half an hour workouts are good for me as apare time is at a premium (because of the young kids!).

One thing I would recommend is running outside rather than on a treadmill. The treadmill can be good for specific pace based training but it can get very boring. You can then add the time you spend getting to and from the gym onto your exercising time and not get any extra grief from the Mrs 😁

What Timmy said really, just building up steadily, get outside into parks if you can and do a parkrun now and then to see how your times progress.

Eccup 10 Mile this morning. Bit muggy at start at 9.30am but cooling wind round reservoir and up onto higher parts. A good route on country lanes with plenty of slow hills and descents. Hats off to Abbey Runners for organization, especially the marshal at 6 mile water station getting abuse off (and handing plenty back) to the arsehole who had driven around several road closed signs.

Muggy training seems to be the in thing....so much so that it was 5:30am running for yours truly this weekend to make the 12 mile marathon training run bearable!
Barnstaple in September, with 2 half marathons either side!

Attempting a comeback run tomorrow evening ?
Anybody on here going Duisburg, I've spotted a parkrun in Dusseldorf 20 minutes away?

After about the 10th attempt, I finally ducked under the 30 minute mark for 5k. Very happy with that.
I had to up the pace at the end to do it, and I was running on empty. Absolutely nothing left in the tank, but I just about managed it.
Something I've realised. The treadmill I've got is in my utility room and its really hot in there. There doesn't seem to be much air getting through the room. I absolutely sweat buckets doing the run.
Will this have much bearing on my time?
I'm thinking of doing a park run to see if I can actually achieve a better time out in the fresh air.
Also, how much difference does having proper gear make, especially proper running trainers? I'm just throwing on any old shorts and tshirt and an old pair of trainers which definitely aren't proper running trainers.

You'll benefit from having other runners around you. If you're serious about running then a decent pair of running shoes is a must. The treadmill doesn't compare to running outdoors and you miss out on the social aspect of running.

Langley fete fell race tomorrow near Macc. 2.8 miles and not even 200m of climbing, so a good first taste of the hills for anyone who is fell-curious.

You absolutely HAVE to get proper running shoes IMO just for the extra cushioning to protect the joints. I’m sure someone somewhere has told me to change trainers every 2000 miles or something daft like that.

You definetly need to get properly fitted running shoes, you need to go to a proper running shop and get your gait analysis done whilst running on their treadmill to see how your foot lans and rolls in/out or you are a toe or heel strike etc. this will stop unnecessary injuries. You should change by about 500 miles at the latest as there is no cushioning left in them.

I just bought myself a pair of running shoes off ebay which are waterproof bright yellow and put everyone's noses out at work. (Probably accounts for all the blisters!)
