Good God no I'm really happy where I am. Best move I ever made although it would be better if I was running rather than walking for England at the moment Since I left I must have recommended around 6 people to my old club including one who's doing really well. I try to marshal their races as well. Unless you're a complete idiot there's no need to fall out with your club when you move on.
I thought your comment was based on personal experience of running clubs and not a dig.
It can be like a bloody school playground sometimes 😂 Samba, stay out of the politics, and enjoy your running, that's all I can say! 18 solid miles for me today, marathon prep going well so far and running well. Knighton in a couple of weeks, but treating it as a tempo as I've been warned off by a couple of people that a really hard effort at Knighton may give me a good performance, but it could detract from Manchester. When I did Knighton before London I did the first half very easy and the second half at marathon pace. I think it worked well and I didn't feel as though it took too long to recover from. 8th at Knype Pool today. A very quick field including Simon Bailey, Jason Burgess and Jack Ross so I'm happy with that.

I started using compeed blister plasters on my nips after that and they worked a treat.

5.5 miles today in just under an hour - had a rancid cold all week and I was just really done with staying in.
Beautiful day for it.

Following on from my last post - Running when ill, sensible or stupid? Opinions gratefully welcome as always* Runners' wisdom is that if you have any problems with your chest then definitely don't run but if it's just a head cold you should be ok. I just don't do it as I know I'll feel much worse afterwards even if I feel OK on the run.

Following on from my last post - Running when ill, sensible or stupid? Opinions gratefully welcome as always* I had to bail the other weekend on my club 18 mile run due to a "dicky tum" Shouldn't have started the run, and to be honest bailed after 10 miles.....and seeing as was in middle of Worcestershire countryside, it was a 6 mile walk home! If you have miles in the bank from previous weeks, then best rest & not risk anything at all.

Chester Ultra for me on Saturday. Glad the weather looks like cooling down a bit! My PT is supposed to be doing it, trained up for it then 2 weeks ago had a foot injury, got that sorted then at the weekend put her back out, she even cancelled our session on Monday She's in 2 minds whether to run it or not, doctor told her on Monday not to, but do we do what the doctors tell us Good luck with it on Saturday

Cheers!

I've only braved Penkhull New Road once. It's near impossible for me not to finish any run on an uphill though!

Since Bourne sports shut down, where is the closest shop for buying running shoes? I use up and running in Manchester now, but surely there’s something closer to (in?) the Potteries?

Running bear in Alderley Edge Rosebank Sports in Northwich Happy days, thanks for that Shippers 👍 I use Rosebank in Northwich, you can park for free in the new multi storey at Barons Quay, or Leicester street car park which is the car park for the Northwich park run, Rosebank is opposite the Penny Black wetherspoon pub, plenty of independent cafes down the main high street as well. Rosebank are having a Brooks try on day tomorrow, where you can go for a run in them, but you have to book a slot first. www.facebook.com/rosebankcentre/?ref=br_rswww.rosebanksports.co.uk/

Only localish shop is Velo in Stone, which only really do NB and ON trainers, it's more of a cycling store. I've been to Running Form in Burton and Derby Runner, in.... Derby. Both were good, and both give club discounts. I messaged DR last week to ask if they had anything in stock and what price, they gave me 20% off the shoes I wanted, probably to try and entice me in. Probably still slightly more than online, but I had bad experiences with getting shoes online, would rather try them out.

Don't they sell shoes at sub4 in cellarhead? Could be wrong though. I just buy online though which is usually OK if you stick with the same brand (adidas for me). I've also had some bargains from the Nike outlet in Talke.

Back from Rhayader....For any fellow Stokies who have done the race in it 20 mile existence, its rather hilly to put it mildly! Around & down the Elan Valley, and usually with all sorts of weather as a bonus Anyhow today its now 18.5 mile, and with a wind on top of the hills that nearly blew 6ft 6/16 stone of Caerwrangon off his feet....to do 3:22 well...Im chuffed as hell. Struggled from 14 miles but just broke my miles down to run/walk/run/walk for the mile, and still managed 10:40s with head wind. Glutes ache like a bugger now though! and to top it off a fine win for The Potters.
