Managed my first 3mile attempted-speed run for a while tonight, absolutely pissing it down and it felt terrible...

Mid Cheshire 5k has opened up for registrations, some top quality runners go into this one. .......and like Christleton a fair few slower runners who are after a 5K PB in a lovely countryside setting.

So I bought some compression socks. I don’t know if it’s science or placebo but I had my second best time on my usual 3.5 mile route I do at work Either way legs definitely felt better and less of the pain I usually get work? the amount of stuff on strava how do you find time I'm in work today

(EDIT)Today I ran the longest distance amount of time I've ever managed, I think I ran for almost a full hour.
Very chuffed with it until I worked out the distance was only 11.7km...
Getting back into it sucks.

Yeah had a niggly little knee issue that kept me out for a bit I've managed 5 days on with one rest day this week. On day 1 i was dying after 600m kept going and forcing myself to keep going - One speedy attempt midweek then a lighter run and then that longer 11+km There is absolutely no substitute for putting one foot in front of the other... I mapped it out much more accurately it was 11.4KM not 11.7km***

13.5 miles this morning - into Leeds, past Kirkstall Abbey and then back out again on the Leeds-Liverpool canal towpath. It's a nice way of doing it - get the boring road bit out of the way in the dark and then along the peaceful cut as it's getting light.

Escape from Meriden from midnight tonight. I have a plan, lets see how it goes! I saw about half a dozen guys, 2 groups of 3 about an hour apart, numbers on their shorts heading north on the A50 on Saturday afternoon, between Kidsgrove and Holmes Chapel, wasn't anything to do with this race was it?

One of the top local athletes on the circuit is a lady in the Vet 70 category by the name of Dot Fellows who runs for Cannock and Stafford. I've just found out that on the 20th October she ran 23:04 at the Walsall Park run which gave her an age grading of 101.5% which is now the new association record

So where are everyones loyalties lieing on saturday? Cheddleton 10k or stoke0-0qpr? I'll be paying our 6 fingered friends a visit. Not sure what to expect though. I've heard different reports of how steep the hills are.

I've promised to marshal Unlucky(or lucky you) Is it car parks? I think they're giving me a side road where the local residents are inconvenienced by the mainly un-local runners. I'm not sure whether I'm receiving some sort of punishment or whether my tremendous, outstanding charm and social skills have marked me down as the ideal candidate
You've got to give it to the good people of Cheddleton, between this and the carnival they've raised over one million pounds for Cancer research UK over something like 40 years

I've heard different reports of how steep the hills are. It's three laps with a 600 metre hill at the start (x3), an undulating middle and a 400 metre downhill at the finish (x3). I would say it would add a minute on to your normal 10K time.
My best time was something like 40:43 but that was 4 or 5 years back pre improvement. I reckon it would have been sub 40 for me early last year, about one hour 30 at the minute . Nice atmosphere at the race and great cakes.

Anyone know if the Cheddleton 10k record was broken? He missed it by 5 seconds I think. Very impressive run nonetheless.
