footballers always get of dont they? Pretty much yes but nobody will take the risk until its certain. Then there will be a rush for his signature. fair does. just think of the options out there that we might think about taking that risk because he might be better than what we've got now

Just offer qpr and him contract based on the court hearing. Pay a small fee now and if he gets off the rest. If he gets banged up contract binned and nothing more to pay. If they want rid enough they will take it if not bollox to him.

Couldn't a deal be done with the player, where his contract is terminated if he's found guilty?
What happens anyway to his contract at QPR if he gets sent down for a few years, I wouldn't have thought they would have to honour it while he's sitting in a cell and is unable to fulfil his commitment to them?
EDIT: Indeed Stafford.

If he was in prison he would be unavailable to play and would be in breach of contract wouldn't he? As others have said, IF we want to sign him, now is the best time to do so on the right contract terms.

You would want a possible rapist playing for our team? You would want to fund this (potential) scumbag?
There are much better out there, why take a stupid risk and taint our club in the process?

If on the other hand he is found guilty we just fuck him off. Surly it is a no lose for us?

6 goals in 14 games for one of the worst teams to play in the premier league that much of a risk if we can get him cheap? Again what if he is found guilty? No use to us in prison is he? I'm no lawyer. But surely that would put him in breach of his contact and we could terminate him

Also wasn't he on about 90k a week?
Also do we really want to make the effort again after he already turned us down?

There's no doubt about the quality that he would add to us, a top top signing.
As for the potential rape situation; it could quite easily be someone trying to earn money out of him, sounds sick but in today's world very possible!
If QPR really are that desperate to get rid then perhaps a loan deal could be arranged; we pay his wages whilst he's innocent, if he's guilty he's there problem again, perhaps with a clause that after one season of being innocent we have an obligation to buy at a set price.

I've read some moronic bullshit on here in my time but fuck me back'ards!

IF he is found guilty then no one in their right mind wouldn't want him to get what he deserves, but thats not what you were implying in your first post and even now he is still guilty in your eyes for some strange reason? IF he is acquitted of any wrong doing then he would plain and simply be an outstanding signing and someone that would improve our forward line no end.

If guilty of rape he wont be allowed to play anyway.
As Stafford says, a provisionary bid is okay.
Always skeptical with these sexual assualt tales. I agree that footballers probably think they're untouchable, but on the other hand there will be loads of slags looking to make a quick buck.

Remy is better than what we have currently so it's a no brainer that he is the kind of player we should be looking at. The big question is, would he be value for money?? At 90k a week, no. However, he was only on £25k a week a Marseille so if we can get him for around that mark it would be great. He's earn £540k in 6months at QPR so its not like he needs the green is it?

The obvious solution is for us (or any other club) to loan him with an option to buy in January if/when the case is dismissed or he is found not guilty. My understanding was that he is still under contract but that there is a buyout clause in his contract for (I think) £7 million if QPR were relegated.
If the case is dismissed then £7 million is a steal - he looked like a £15 million player to me.

£75k a week he's on at QPR apparently
he seems like the type to sit on those wages even in the championship
forget him

Need to look at the bigger picture though. A club needs to protect their image. If he is found guilty, it will be seen as a club taking on a scumbag and giving him money.
If he is innocent, a club still took a risk on him regardless. It will be seen as moraless. (Sp?)
My guess is that is why no one is touching him with a bargepole. It's easy to put something into the contract if he is found guilty to protect yourself and break all ties with him, but it would still damage the clubs image.
Otherwise someone would have tried for him by now, because he is a decent player.
