With the proposed use of the Bet365 for concerts and possibly the fanzone for smaller gigs are there any 'rock' groups left that could sell it out?
I guess the fanzone, 1500 capacity, wouldn't be big enough to finance an all day gig?

I don't know a single person who can remember Delilah being sung in the 70's, not one. You'll Never Walk Alone, yep but definitely not Delilah. Alex Harvey being support at the Yes gig is a complete coincidence. Be ace if it were true though No it wasn't Ace... they were on before Alex Harvey

Absolutely right mate... a complete coincidence that we sing it today as you say but the fact remains that Alex was the first person to belt it out on the old Boothen Every time I spot this subject come up, I reference TJ (Anton Booth) being interviewed by BBC MOTD, where he tells what I believe to be the definitive origin of why Stoke fans sing Delilah. And each time I've uploaded the file to Vimeo or Youtube it's been taken down... a bit silly imo considering how long ago the match footage was. So I've edited it out any PL footage and just uploaded the bit about Delilah... Hopefully it will stay up this time and can be used to dispel the myths about why we sing it.

Have to say, not may fave song and that one is even worse that Tom Jones'version
Tom Jones did once comment that we sang it, he said he hasn't heard it but believed it was very good ...he's ever so polite

This is the story I always tell people who ask - it's great to actually get it from the horse's mouth at last. Great video.

The version I heard was much the same as Anton's, except that (as a roofer) he climbed up the floodlights at a particularly bad away game (at Wigan?) and the Stokies turned and joined in with him rather than watch the game.

Talking of Delilah, there's a nice anecdote that lyricist Barry Mason (who died in 2021) told about this song He was in the toilets of a night club when he hears the guy at the next urinal whistling 'Delilah' Chuffed with this, he says to the guy "Did you know I wrote that song?" The guy shook his head and said "No you didn't, Les Reed wrote it" "Yes but I wrote the lyrics" said Mason "BUT I WASN'T WHISTLING THE BLOODY LYRICS" said the man indignantly !
