Mate, you should have just said "ok, there is something English about the PL" Then that's the end of it, i was being pedantic, almost bodacious, but i'd suggest not writing statements that are factually incorrect. There is nothing English about the Premier League. On a Stoke City messageboard, i personally live in Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent is in England, there IS something English after all. Sorry, i'm being bodacious, i mean pedantic. alright Paxman, chill yer boots!

The game is still about 10 months away, relax by the time we come to play them plenty of other teams will have played them so we'll have more of an idea then.

If only......one of the most dead and buried fixtures for us, all who go are bound to be wrapped up. Be very unlikely if anyone even bothers travelling there I've read this four times now mate and I'm none the wiser The fixture is "dead and buried"? All who go will be "wrapped up"? Very unlikely anyone will "bother travelling"? Well I'll be going since the fixture is alive and well and whether I am wrapped up or not will depend upon the weather I thought I was the only one not to understand it. It's in the Easter holidays so, if I'm not abroad I'll be going and if it's anything like this Easter I'll be "wrapped up" too.

An idea of what It's Cardiff not bloody Al-Masry, we've turned into a bunch of utter tarts with all this fretting. You'd have thought after going into the unknown of Istanbul we'd be fairly seasoned, obviously not. When we first came up the rest of the league were asking the same questions, 5 years on you can count the number of incidents we've had on one hand.

To Pickens - it wasn't Cardiff fans in Weston causing trouble, there was a bit between Sheff Utd and Wolves in Weston, and Sheff Utd and Bristol City in Brizzle.
Been to Cardiff twice with Stoke, once a night game in 99 when we won 2-1 I think, same night a small group of Stoke got legged around the Queens arcade by large numbers of Cardiff was hairy outside with about 500 taffs waiting for us outside think a few Stoke made a charge at them but nothing else happened, then went 2 years? later when we lost 2-0 also a night game, the night Stoke were drinking in one of Cardiff's boozers the Albert, most of the trouble that night was caused by Stoke, kicking off a bit with the rozzers because they held us back, a few charged out but got whacked back in by old bill.
Heard the stories from my old man about our game there in 79?, the as forementioned chaos, with running battles all over back to the station. In all fairness their edge has been taken away from them, most are banned, but it's still the sort of place you've got to have your wits about you, can see a lot of ours going there with intent though to kick things off.

That night of the 2-1 victory was very interesting when we finally got out onto the main road and the 2 Derby fans that went with me still talk about it to this day :DWhen super James got the winner my mates face was a picture knowing we'd face the Welsh wrath outside and the walk/run back to the car was different to say the least Wasn't that impressed with the new ground tbh when I went to the cup replay a couple of years back especially the soulless concourse area and the position of the away seats also.

What biased comments from so many of you! It's like criticising Stoke City for hoofball or negative play, despite waiting to see what the new manager provides.
Please can someone put up Ben Rumsby's article from page 14 of today's Sport Telegraph? It's about the alarming slump in away support at PL away grounds and the fact that something must be done if a lack of atmosphere isn't to kill TV popularity.
Cardiff City appear to have the best match-day experience of all of the clubs, which sounds fantastic. Give it a go, forgetting the past. No wonder they're expecting a sell-out 3,000 average, (instead of 300 at Ninian Park) after 'a radical re-think', for which they deserve much credit. It sounds great and worthy of our support.

Never been to the new ground but Ninian park had a reputation all on its own. It was volatile and the grange road end was a step back to the bad old days. That net partition saved us from many a missile.
The new ground will no doubt be as sterile as all new stadia.

Been to the new ground, so much better than the brit, large concourse s selling decent food, and drink.plenty of places around for food and drink.plus cardiff is a lovely city, so much more cosmopolitan than stoke (crewes probably more cosmo than sot) I even went In the ninian park pub before the match too.but obviously kept quiet. We also won 2_0 so I had a good day.. all in all great weekend to be had in cardiff or caerdydd as they say in splott.

Not wishing to take issue with you over that but "there is nothing English about the PL" isn't strictly true is it? I think it's very true. Arsenal - Owned by a Yank and managed by a frog. Villa - Owned by a Yank and managed by a jock. Cardiff - Owned by Malaysia and managed by a jock. Chelsea - Owned by a Russian and managed by an Iberian. Palace - English. Everton - English owned but managed by a Catalan. Fulham - Owned by an Egyptian and managed by a Dutch man. Hull - Owned by an Egyptian, English managed. Liverpool - Owned by Yanks and managed by someone from Northern Oirlund. Citeh - Owned by Arabs and managed by a Chilean. United - Owned by Yanks and managed by a jock. Newcastle - English owned and English managed, working well for them... Narrwich - Pleasant English club, managed by a fake Irish man. Southampton - Owned by Swiss and managed by an Argie. The mighty rip roaring potters - English owned but managed by a sheep. Sunderland - Owned by a Yank and managed by a mad Italian. Swansea - Welsh owned and managed by a dude from Denmark. Spurs - English owned, managed by a Portugese. WBA - English, headed by a jock. Hammers - English & Welsh. Majority of players are foreign, finances are dependent on foreign TV, majority of sponsors are foreign companies. I don't know how anyone can argue the PL is English. Swansea- Danish manager, several English players Cardiff- Malaysian owner, Scottish manager Lets be honest, you're not exactly following the Welsh version of Bilbao's Basque-only policy, are you?

I live in Cardiff and you have nothing to worry about apart from the odd idiot (on both sides), act like a twat and you could get a kicking but be respectful and you will be fine.
The Cardiff lads are a really good bunch and it is probably one of the best grounds to visit; loads of piss taking, interaction with the players and some brilliant songs.
But if you like middle-class football then I would stay away ...
It is probably better to say if you show some respect you will have a great time in Cardiff at the football and on the piss.

Could have sworn it was Cardiff, remember hearing the police screaming whilst legging it, shortly before Senoritas windows were put through. It was a long time ago though so could well be mistaken.

I went to Cardiff for a few days and did a little reccy of the ground.
It isn't as nice on the outside in my view as ours, but looks great inside, nice food, etc. The town is much better than in '02 and the locals tell me they've worked hard to improve the matchday experience for both sets of fans and trouble is rare these days. I'll be going, so it won't be "nobody".

Football-related arrests Cardiff City supporters - home 5; away 20; total 25 Stoke City supporters - home 9;away 29; total 38

Pickins- that might even of been Brum, they trashed the place a few years back in their annual piss up in Weston day, do you live in Weston then?? been here for a few years now, like a Brummie suburb, shame no Stoke mobs come down, seen lots from Sheff Utd, Brum, Wolves, Villa etc..

Yes that's the one. There are a few Stokies around these parts it would seem, often a cpl there whenever I pop down. £2 for a double sausage, bacon and cheese oatcake is a bargain!

In my experience all people from Cardiff and the Valleys including Cardiff fans are very well balanced they have a chip on both shoulders! During a 30yr absence from residency in Stoke I spent 15yrs in a village 20 miles from Cardiff between Newport and England. The village was on the old main rd into Cardiff which was replaced by the M4 we had a single pub in the village that had developed a nice little side line of providing lunch and drinks for coaches of supporters whose teams were playing Cardiff leaving usually middle aged and family supporters the option of then going straight to the ground unfortunately the Cardiff fans got to hear about this and one Saturday ambushed a group of QPR supporters at the pub it was a blood bath and the pub was all but destroyed and the guy who ran the pub had his business partially ruined as the police would no longer let football coaches stop there! ,,
