I think someone who brought us premiership football from the jaws of a trip back to the 3rd division and kept us there for 5 seasons earning us somewhere in the region of 300 million quid probably does deserve some sort of recognition. I think what some of his detractors struggle with is that this West Country bumpkin has done more for stoke city than they ever will.

I liked TP for all he did for us and also for his work with local charities such as the Donna Louise Trust. I was sad to see him go but can understand the reasons why. He had his faults, as do all managers and that is where, as a fan, having a sense of humour comes in handy. Therefore can I suggest a statue of TP hammering a square peg into a round hole.

We could donate his dossier on the sixth year plan (supersceding three and five year plans)for display at the National Football Museum perhaps?

Calm yourself down old man I know exactly where he is from, referring more to his accent and time spent with Bristol. And the only reason I aint been following stoke as long as you is due to your advancing years. Pulis done more for stoke than you too hey?

Pulis had more influence on the club than supporters for a period of time in history but the supporters have done more for the football club than any chairman, any manager and any player. Without the supporters there was, is and will not be any football club.

sid, Don't see any sarcastic remarks on here about Stanley Matthews, Gordon Banks, Tony Waddington, Lou, or other great servants of the club. Humour is great, don't think many of these remarks about Tony Pulis are good natured humour, far from it. Boo-frigging-hoo Geoff. If you dont think this thread is good natured humour then that's your problem, nobody elses

Joking aside, I'd love to see a tribute touchline "technical area" outside the Brit replete with bronzes of Waddo, Pulis and an empty 3rd plinth. That's the one I had in mind for TP! BTW, what on earth happened to humour? I only responded in humour and I'm sure TP would have smiled at my response! The fact that I have to justify what used to constitute humour on this board years ago is just sad *Memories of being able to self depreciate in humour* Bring back the Messerschmidt days

The Pulis haters are drifting slowly away, to be replaced by the Pulis comedians. Both lots as bad as each other. I'd imagine you are the Uncle Bastard of your family...we all have them. At Christmas you are the sour faced bastard in the corner dampening down everyone's good time. A Victor Meldrew.

You can't have a statue for someone who divided the support I'm pretty sure that not everyone was a Macari lover, especially on his second visit. Waddo is before my time, can't comment - but to suggest our most succesful manager ever deserves nowt is to be brutally frank...stupid

Joking aside, I'd love to see a tribute touchline "technical area" outside the Brit replete with bronzes of Waddo, Pulis and an empty 3rd plinth. I don't want it outside the Brit. I want it in the actual technical area. That way, if our new boss is Martinez, Poyet or DiMatteo, our full-backs will still be shit-scared to go on the overlap, and our midfielders will continue doing those anxious twitchy glances towards the dugout before deciding whether to make a darting run in support of Crouchy as we hunt for a last-minute equaliser. We'll be having no cavalier football I tell you.
