www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22278754Great news for local youth development and shows what can be done for lower (& higher) league clubs balancing the books. Can't see another thread on this. If so, apologies.

Yeah, I'll be going. I won't be going to another Stoke game whilst Pulis is there.

I've seen more entertainment down at the Alex these last 3 months than I have the last 2 seasons watching Stoke under Pulis and it costs me and the lad half the cost.

That's a great achievment.
"You have to build and give these boys a chance," said Davis. "Sometimes they take you down. Sometimes they get you promoted.
"You have to add a bit of experience to the team to help them along the way.
"But you have to be brave and courageous in playing them."
Love it.

I've seen lots of games as a neutral. I can enjoy the performance and skill but there is never any passion. I just couldn't give a shit who won. You'd save even more by becoming a shit fan and watching on the Internet. It's not a choice I made its a disease I inherited but if it works for you get on with it. After the shit I've watched over the years in the wilderness we are so much better now

Not a dig at Pulis or anything like that, but Davis seems a good manager with a good head on him, perhaps one for the future!

Just shows how good Crewe's youth academy is/was nothing more nothing less. Hopefully ours can now take over, it should and has nothing to do with Pulis the positive or the negatives.

Each to their own like, but can you really call yourself a Stoke fan if you're going to watch a different team play every week?

I've seen more entertainment down at the Alex these last 3 months than I have the last 2 seasons watching Stoke under Pulis and it costs me and the lad half the cost. Absolute nonsense. I live in Nantwich and I know a fair few Crewe season ticket holders, and aside from the pride and encouragement of their youngsters, they say the standard of football is appalling, even a shit premier league game is 99% of the time better than 3rd division stuff. Don't believe everything Graham Mcgarry tells you! Also, if you've been going to Crewe for three months how do you know they were more entertaining than three months at Stoke? PS- Well done to Crewe for achieving this.

Crewe's Academy has always been based more or less on local player development to move to first team squad standard, which is, in fairness, a long way from Stoke City's in recent years.

Good PR exercise to ensure that Crewe reinforce their status as a good academy club and also makes sure that their players continue to be sold at a premium.

Had we persisted with Martin Paterson he'd be on a level with Jerome for example by now, just a thought.

There's a lot of difference between playing at Division 1 level, especially when there;s nothing on the game and at Premiership level - can't imagine any top side doing it (Barcelona the closest?)
