It is eerily spooky that we scored in the 42nd minute. Squad numbers weren't around in Warey's day so there is no number to really associate him with from his time with us.
It is nice to think that our opening goal today came courtesy of a word in the ear of the Big Man from the superb Paul Ware.
PAUL WARE, There's only one Paul Ware, there's only one Paul Ware, there's only one Paul Ware. PAUL WARE..................

It might also be worth noting that the 42nd minute opener will almost certainly have sealed the fate of Joe Jordan (the man who inexplicably got rid of Paul Ware) and effectively sent Jordan and his cronies to relegation. It all has a ring of beautiful karma to it really. RIP Paul Ware.

Perfect tribute really.
A performance of graft, character and pride in the shirt.
All the things that characterised Warey and his time as a Stoke player.

Dad's funeral will be held on Tuesday 30th April 2013 at 1.30pm, Saint Mary's Church in Sandbach where Mum and Dad got married. The charities are for children's cancer and brain cancer if people wish to donate. After the funeral family will go to the crematorium, and back to the Chimney House. Please could you message us if you are attending the funeral and/or Chimney House so that Mum can sort the catering and numbers. Thank you. Laura and Amy Ware x

Laura and Amy Ware x I would have loved to have been there but I will be out of the country. My sincere condolences to you both and to your Mum. I hope that this Board is of some consolation, at least insofar as it demonstrates the regard in which your Dad was held by so many people. "Our lives are shaped not by what we carry with us but by what we leave behind". You both seem to be an incredible tribute to your Dad and I, as many others on here, wish you and your family all the very best at this very difficult time and for the future. It would be great if you both felt able to stay in touch on The Oatcake, but I'm sure that everyone would understand either way. Our thoughts will be with you on Tuesday. xx

RIP Warey. Paul was one of my all time City heroes. When playing lads and dads around the age of 14 I won player of the season. It was Paul who was presenting the awards that night. I got his autograph but even better tha that and typical of the kind of bloke he was he took 10-15 minutes chatting to me and my old man. A champion of a man and a true stoke legend who will be missed.
