It takes time for a club to evolve — three, four, maybe even five years in some cases. “You can’t just sign two players and say we’re a different side now. “It’s like turning the QE2 — it has to be done gradually. That is ridiculous. We were evolving really well. We were becoming an impressive well rounded top flight side. At this point we are playing less expansive and less effective football than any time since we got promoted.

Articles like this are making us more of a laughing stock day by day. He doesn't even know what to do with 'bottom end' flair players like Tuncay and Adam, so what the hell is he rambling on about? Hang on...didn't Bale start out as a left back Be interesting to see Ronaldo between the sticks I suppose...

Tony you're just starting to make yourself look like a complete fool now ... how long have YOU been at THIS club. How they flying fook can you talk about Swansea having a leap on you in terms of time allowed? It's utterly idiotic. And as for your disingenuous remarks about Charlie Adam ... I'd love to know what Charlie Adam thinks about his comments ... even if his form has suffered because of his father's death (and I'm not sure it has), there's absolutely no need for Pulis to highlight it to the press. Tony Pulis is becoming an embarrassment to this club.

He is right, Ronaldo & Bale in our squad gives us options, maybe if we are at home to Villa and needing an equaliser he could bring on Ronaldo for SJW in the 85th minute and maybe use Bale as defensive cover if Shotton gets a knock late on if we need to defend a 0-0 draw...

Jesus. All direct quotes too.
Does hoofing it up into the air as early as possible count as 'moving the ball quickly'?
Like Geoff Cameron, Ryan Shotton, Jon Walters and Dean Whitehead.
Someone like Ricardo Fuller would be ideal.
So why haven't we signed some wingers and centre-forwards who are capable of doing those things?
Ahem. Which of the multi-million flop signings shall we begin with?
So what you're saying is we need something like a "three-year plan"?
No. You can sign them, leave them on the bench and say we're exactly the same side.
To be honest Tone, for you it's clearly more like turning the Earth on its axis and making it spin the other way.

I remember reading an article here in the states about the old NASL days. Apparently it was rather amusing (and depressing) to the foreign players that the action which got the biggest reaction from the crowd was when the goalkeeper would punt the ball up to the other end of the pitch -- as though simply moving the ball up absent of possession somehow meant that you were getting really close to scoring a goal.
The last few weeks, I've found myself thinking about that article while watching our games.

This interview is an embarrasment to Stoke City.
Pulis is delusionial.
How the fuck can he moan about money, he HAS had an open cheque book.

“It’s like turning the QE2 — it has to be done gradually. You turn if you want to, but the lady is not for turning! Tony Pulis, THE finest walking, talking example of a complete and utter hypocrite. Bale came through the Academy system he doesn't like and Ronaldo was developed by his 'bend over and pucker up for me Tony' mate in Manchester, from a very raw almost show pony type player into a world class footballer. Had they both been at Stoke under this manager they wouldn't be anywhere near where they are now. Get out of our great club Pulis, you are no longer wanted here by this Stokie.

I feel Pulis should not be giving interviews or comments at the moment.Quietly get on with trying to gain points. He lost respect.Finish the season off and quietly walk away. Then although he made some unfortunate comments and decisions at our club, there no real damage to his career and finding a new managers job.

More ramblings of a desperate man. The day Ronaldo & Bale would want to play for Pulis is the day he held their families at gun point.

I've got very little sympathy for the Stubborn Mule, he knows his football is shite, he knows he can't play any other way, he knows it's not getting the required results, he must know he boobs in the transfer market, he must know that every now & again the supporters are right and he should keep one ear open to the other 25'000 people who watch it on a weekly basis, 25'000 sets of eyes are better than one. He does not give a fuck about entertainment value, the only thing Pulis gives a fuck about is his weekly wage packet only now he is starting to realise the supporters of the club that spend their hard earned on his shite ineffective brand of football & who have been patient enough to give him the time are realising he is taking the piss, there can only be one winner when this happens and it's not the manager Too late Pulis it serves you fucking right, switch the light off on the way out.

He really is despicable isn't he.
Instead of spouting this kind of bullshit to the press perhaps his time would be better spent on attempting to coach his players into winning a football match.
There is one person to blame for our utter wankness and that person is you Pulis. Just leave and never come back.

Hmm, Im guessing we are having a little joke here.
If he is being honest, which in the current day, Im not too sure where his head at then he needs locking up.
Bale and Ronaldo would be shoehorned in at full back whether they like it or not, destroying any creative intent they are blessed with.
If they continued to improve the squad then they then would be dropped in favour of Shotton and Whitehead with El' Capped One deeming them unfit to play 90 minutes.
The guy is fast losing the plot and its becoming quite embarrassing.

“I want us to get the ball out to players who can excite the crowd."
Which players are these then Tone?
“If I had an open chequebook "
Shudders at the thought
“I’m not against change and we’ve already started the process."
Yes, by not playing Owen, Adam, Pennant, Palacios, Jones & sending Cuvelier out on loan.
“But there weren’t many people complaining about the way we played when we went on a 10-match unbeaten run in November and December.”
Correct, you had brainwashed a hell of a lot of people but not all, I assure you.
“Players lose confidence, don’t play as many games as they want, they’re down in the dumps and lose confidence.
Yes, this tends to happen when your favourites are set in stone regardless of how well they play which may explain why your team is not as hungry as it should be at present. I thought you had a good squad to "compete" for the shirt.
“There are always certain things which affect players’ performances.
Yes, like not being allowed to express their footballing ability.

Post by thesandbankskid on Apr 10, 2013 7:39:06 GMT
Is he unwittingly saying there that he dare not play a more open "footballing" game until he possesses players of this standard?
This is going to be a long 6 weeks.

YES there were! Does he honestly think that his problems with the fans of this football club have only arisen because of this bad run of results?
With a few exceptions we have played like a pub team for all but 2 months of the last 3 years! The football he plays has always been deserving of the results he is now getting.

TP had lost any idea of what to do with Charlie Adam long before the death of his father. He's out of order using that as an excuse.
As for the Ronaldo/Bale thing, well it's laughable really, but I'd have a tiny little bit of time for it if had he not kept a born goalscorer on the bench at Everton when we were desperate for a goal or refused to allow his goalkeeper to go up for a corner in the last seconds of injury time at Fulham.
Why would players like that want to be involved in a team with such a rampant negative attitude emanating from the top?

I can't work out if he genuinely believes this shit, or just thinks we're all stupid. He may be a League One quality football coach but he's a Champions League bullshitter. His past meddling in non-footballing matters suggests that he's always been a nasty conniving shit-stirrer - it's his nature and that's never going to change. He's also incapable of taking criticism. Saturdays crowd reaction obviously shook him which is why he's not been able to keep his gob shut and his bullshit to himself all week. Kemp may be a different matter. I heard a pre-match interview with him on Saturday when he was basically giving it the old 'be careful what you you wish for' routine. I almost crashed the car when he went on to quote 'Charlton' at us! Now either Kemp is cleverer than we think and did it as a wind up to the critics or he is a thick as pig shit dinosaur who should not be allowed anywhere near our club. Worryingly I suspect it's the latter.

Are we sure this isn't actually a 'Daily Mash' article? It's a very worrying article- disingenuous and dripping with misplaced self-justification. It's crossed the line into pure embarrassment for anyone who has watched his teams play over he last 2 years and has followed his progressively more erratic management.

I assume he means the 10 match run that Jones presided over for the most part before he was unceremoniously dropped for, useless in our system, Crouch?
