Got a lot of time for Martinez, good bloke and good manager, irrespective of views on Pulis!!
Destined for big things as a manager i'd say.

Anyone know if there's enough dollar in the Coates' pocket to afford Pulis from August to Xmas, with Martinez doing the late shift, Xmas to May. Perhaps Rafa in th'background as Cup Consultant, with Moyes doing pre-season and transfers..?
why do folk keep mentioning the Crewe fella?
Evolution Control Committee.
edit: only if Martinez brought the new Maloney with him too.

I think it would make more sense if people just ignored Stafford for a bit. Why, because I don't jump on the band wagon? Get a grip kid, it's a message board. I like most can see that the footie is shit and we need to improve I just don't agree that we should slate the shit out of the bloke that has given us the best times to be a Stokie. I only take the piss out of them that go out of their way to twist things just to get a negative or have a pop at me 1st. By all means feel free to ignore me if I offend you so much.

Stafford you do a fine job of defending Pulis. However a lot of the criticism on the message board is not slating the shit. I am grateful for the good times since 2007, however now there is one reason and one reason only why we are in the mess we are in, and that is Pulis. So no matter what good he has done he is the problem now and must go. That is not slating the shit, that is stating facts. Life is about the here and now, not the past, he is messing up big time now and needs to go NOW.

Got a lot of time for Martinez, good bloke and good manager, irrespective of views on Pulis!! Destined for big things as a manager i'd say. I agree. Much bigger than Stoke (even if we were to survive in the PL). When Wigan beat Everton and drew Millwall in the SF, I fully expected that to signal their demise - since when they have picked up more points than we have since Boxing Day. What crystallised the Pulis paralysis for me was the apparent refusal to let Begovic go up in the dying minutes at Fulham. Put it this way. Stoke are 1-0 up at home, and the opposition gets a 92nd minute corner. You see their goalie advance on the 18 yd box. Do you think "Oh great - a chance to nick a breakaway second?". Or do you think: "Panic stations - this has equaliser written all over it". Would Begovic have scored? Very probably not. Might he have contributed to a scrappy goal? Just possibly. It's not a question of liking Pulis or not. It's pure pragmatism. Stick with him and I think we are down. If we replaced him now, would we survive? I doubt it, personally. But might we? Just possibly. All academic however. I think the chances of Coates replacing TP even if we are relegated to be about as slim as the prospect of attracting Martinez even if we survive. Virtually nil in either case.

Wigan play some nice football, stoke play no football, how do you expect martinez to get these misfits playing the beautiful game, in footballing terms we are probably the worst team the premier league has ever seen, ridiculed by all The job should go to paul daniels or dynamo,

I would agree Tony played a part, there's no doubting that but he alone hasn't given us the best times a big portion of credit has to go to PC. I would go as far to say that Fuller has given more to our cause in the past than TP because without Fuller making Pulisball work I doubt we would get close to promotion. However TP has to take a large portion of blame for our current situation, there's no doubting that either.

Yes TP picked the team, and these players have been good enough for most in the past, but they played shit. The ball was like a hot potato and none of them wanted it. N'Zonzi was as bad as I have ever seen him, Shotton was awful, Huth and Shawcross were all over the place. Of course TP should take his share of the blame but fuck me the players didn't help him on Sat. But very few at the moment blame the players they would rather chuck it all at Pulis which I think is wrong. They are a team and are all in this together along with us as fans. Of course the fans shoulder no blame but we have to stick with TP and the team to see this season out. We will not go down with Pulis this season!

Do you think it is possible for so many players to go off the boil as we are seeing now. Yes they are all playing poorly but they simply don't look like they are enjoying themselves and more importantly they don't trust each other. The list of players that either aren't good enough or don't suit or are playing out of position is growing. The team spirit is shot to death the fan base is at it's end of its tether and the the man responsible puts it down to fucking luck. I'm sorry Stafford but fans need to hear and see more than that.

Surely you don't want to keep him just to show respect as he gets paid an absolute fortune to do well for the club and currently isn't. What is there to suggest that keeping him till the end is a good idea?

Players heads may drop further, would a new bloke have time to sort the team? If it's intrim who would we get? If it is a long term 'big name' and we still get relegated how much in the long term will it cost the club? As far as I remember TP is on a rolling contract and would cost us nothing if he left in the summer. I believe he and the players will come good and we should have a look at it in the summer. Even if we go down I would rather wait until the summer where there is more time to get the right bloke than make a knee jerk decision now.

You are fully entitled to your opinion. In fact, I have spent plenty of time arguing the toss with the Hate Gang... even on this thread if you read my previous comments. The reason why I said you should be ignored is because you are deliberately picking arguments with people who are not giving the manager abuse. The people 'twisting things' as you put it represent about ten or twenty percent of those that post on here. There are plenty of others - like myself for instance - who do not give the manager abuse but fully accept he absolutely HAS to take the lion's share of responsibility for the shit we are in right now. Now is not the time for bitching and point-scoring. Unlike earlier in the season, people now have a genuine right to be extremely angry and frustrated with Pulis. I can't see why you would enjoy antagonising fellow supporters so much, particularly at a time like this?

Just to note, the rolling contract means he always has a year left so when ever he got sacked Stoke would still have to pay him for another year, that's how I understand it anyway, I can't see him walking tbh, unless Coates had a word first and gave Pulis the chance to resign rather than getting sacked. And I agree with the rest of what you say, I can't see someone being able to come in and make a big difference, best to keep Pulis until the end of the season, someone that knows the players etc, lets just hope he realises he needs to do something to change things rather than hoping the same crap will come good in the end.

Maybe we should work on improving our players technically and as footballers rather than working on shape the whole time?? That is completely the managers doing, they are scared to receive the ball, under pressure or not, and that's down to one man.

The set up that Pulis has put in place never seems to improve or develop creative or attacking players in fact the reverse is actually true so many players of this type come to Stoke and regress quite markedly as footballers. This is no one off or any sort of coincidence its down to one man and his methods.

How much have they recieved back in transfer fees, how much have any of pullis's signings earne stoke ? Don't forget about ones like Diame as well who let their contracts run down and went on free's as well and how much they are worth on the open market.

Flatters to deceive finds himself in a relegation battle every season not sure. Honestly don't understand all the hype myself Wigan are never going to do anything other than survive tbh, no matter what... they're a small club. Any decent player will be immediately poached with the wish of playing for a more reputable club, in front of bigger crowds, higher wages etc. He's done an admirable job with money that has to be earned due to a selling policy, and there is an inherent limited appeal - he's turned them into a decent outfit worth playing for based on his own ethos, man-management and tactics. And could be leading them out in an FA Cup final, a massive achievement for such a small club! He's also the catalyst for Swanseas success story, did a lot of the ground work which Sousa, Rodgers and Laudrup have built upon. Comes across very well in interviews, respectful of the opposition no matter who they are or how they play... would be interesting to see how he would do on a big budget, with top players, a large squad, under a high expectation and scrutiny from the press, but I think he'd do alright myself! Of course, these are just my views! No problem with people who don't rate him. Although re-reading what i've just written, kinda sounds like i've a bit of a crush on him... yikes!

Bruce did a much better job with the same funds and loss of players etc
