That is interesting but also not that surprising. The long list of players dismissed before they were given a chance is pretty staggering. I remembering hearing one of the De Boer brothers admitting he didn't think Messi was anything special when he first saw him.
I think Tone's version of scouting at the moment is to phone one of his mates - usually Redknapp - and ask him if he knows anyone who would be up for a kick about. He then does a bit of homework into their 'DNA'. Basically we need to employ a proper scout and hopefully this Cartwright bloke will fill that role.

Thing is, Tone is hardly the ' nuture and develop ' type is he? More of a rescue and recover merchant.

Which Pulis definitely wouldnt abide- its early days but I'd put good money that we're seeing the early days of Shea being Triggy/Ziggy'd. You can't take control off an egotistical control freak. The big suprise for me with this one is that I actually hadnt imagined we were ever in a position to dismiss players of this calibre, I thought we'd be dimissing much lesser lights than this. On top of that, the chilling thing is what the hell the Lively and Inventive Dave Kemp was doing down there if we had a guy with actual knowledge of the area already on the case. Its a window into club politics that I dont wanna look into.. Im depressed enough with us FFS!

Even if we did sign Pastore, I'd argue he'd be in a similar position to Arismendi, getting loaned out to League 1 and Championship teams and never being used. Not saying Arismendi was great, but who knows what might of happened if we actually gave him some substantial game time. I thought Arismendi played great in Valencia. Me too. I found it astonishing that having been arguably our best player against top class opposition he was not utilised more.

Thanks for the info chaps.
It was indeed a very un Pulis like performance.
Very odd that none of them were deemed good enough after that performance.
He works in very weird ways does this manager, can't fucking wait until he's just a bad memory.

We've signed plenty of good footballers in the last two or three years who either haven't been given an opportunity to prove themselves, the manager simply doesn't trust or have been shoehorned into a full back position. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that this Pastore character may well have gone the same way. What you said Dave. He would never have played for us in a million years. He's not a Pulis signing. By now he'd be worth a grand total of fuck all.
