His best match at centre half (despite his Cruyuff turn)...no brainier Huth back, Wilson to left back.

Credit to wilson for playing well in every position I've seen him in. Would still like him in MF alongside N'Zonzi and adam

I think its about time he had another go in midfield.
Get a LB in over the summer, move Whitehead, Palacios on. Keep Whelan as back-up and let Wilson play in midfield with Nzonzi.
I reckon he has a few goals in him from midfield as well.

I reckon he has a few goals in him from midfield as well. Wilson wasn't aware enough to play centre midfield when he first played there for us. Playing full-back for two years will have helped solve that problem. I think it's worth a try again now.

Wilson is still far too slow on the ball and gets closed down too easily (hence he HAD to do that mental turn yesterday). This would be magnified in midfield where he would have far less time on the ball. And anyone who thinks Shawcross just hoofs but Wilson's are cultured long diagonal balls that no one else reads, is a bit simple.

Howedy-I think he's slow in the mind and I don't mean he's thick, he just waits too long for the pass. Which isn't helped by playing with statues but he fannies around with it too much.

He played well but he didn't have much to do, Shawcross was the one doing all the marking and Wilson had a free ride.

He's starting to look a very good player. Deserves great credit for coming back from a serious injury and just slotting back in. Could be a key player for us in years to come. Yeah I'd agree with that. Wilson is a decent, genuine premier league quality player and is technically on a different level to the rest of our starting xi.

What makes him on a different level technically? He hoofs as much as anyone and is pretty crap at it to boot. I don't get it.

Watch him closely during the next game. He makes space for himself, has very good footwork and despite the myth on here..he CAN pass. He "hoofs as much as anyone" because thats what TP tells him to do. If he ignores such orders he'll be dropped. Simply as that ;D He can also shoot, however, tragically for him his career with us looks like being wasted at left back.

I know he's told to but he's really bad at it, as hoofs go they're toss. It's the worst part of his game and I like him at left back but the hoofs let him down. He's a good player but he's not God's gift to football and I'd hate to see him in midfield. What makes him on a different level technically? One through ball to KJ years ago? In a game where he looked atrocious bar that? He needs lots of time on the ball, he'd get destroyed in midfield as he was when he played there during that spell.

That was probably the best pass we've made since promotion. Also you say he'd get destroyed in midfield...he was our best player at Old Trafford a couple of seasons back and had a couple of other decent games there before being shifted out of position. Besides hes a different player now. I think hes improving all the time and will make a fine centre mid. I dont agree with TP on much but I agree with him in the belief that Wilson is actually a very good player. Bayern you call skill "fannying around". You are aware that if we fuck TP off and bring in a half decent manager who gets his teams playing football..you will see a lot more of this "fannying around"? Skill is part of the modern game mate.

He cannot be any worse than what we have in midfield, and he does hit a good deadball I think he would off done a better job with the two late free kicks as CA seems to have lost it since the loss of his farther.

If he was played in a midfield 3 I think he could do ok because it should allow him more time but in a 2 I wouldn't trust him and nor does TP. And it's not because he's a footballer. I am and I know when I see defenders trying it I cringe and shit my pants, it's not the time nor the place. He puts himself under the pressure and has to do that "skill" to get himself out of the shit he's put himself in. And it's the reason he was destroyed in midfield because he didn't have the time to do it so got caught in possession. He's showed me nothing to believe that would change. When he did yesterday I wanted to twat him.

Ben Foster did a lot of fannying around the ball yesterday and luckily for that overrated shyster we only had Crouchy running at him. It's a feature of football in the last few years that I don't like. It was enough for me never want to see him there again.

All opinions but (in mine) he was doing very well at left back, even allowing for his 'switching' on to his right all the time. I think he's a better opinion there than the alternatives and is better than we've had most of the time. He does punt the ball long for the most part but I think he's capable of much better than that if only he............
a. Had someone to pass it to
or
b. Wasn't INSTRUCTED to punt it long (which he clearly is).
As for leaving him at CH, is that really a serious suggestion when most would have the Huth/Shawcross combination down as one the the GOOD things about Stoke City?
I'd love to see better football at Stoke but CH is not the place I particularly like to see players pirouetting and practicing their 'fancy skills'. Much as I loved him for the most part, I used to shit myself when Abdy got it into his head that he was Ronaldo.

Best man yesterday by a country mile. Made several crucial clearing headers and challenges and read the game superbly. He also looks dangerous from our corners which Ryan etc seem to have lost. Why are people getting wound about his drag backs?? Only bit of skill we produced in 90 mins!!
